what a monster...

Hard to believe, but as far as I remember in 1939 Polish expedition climbed that giant.

Amazing view, need to move my ass for some nice trek in Himalayas soon!

Hi Tomek,

Nanda Devi East was first climbed in 1939 by a four-member Polish expedition led by Adam Karpinski. They climbed the south ridge, from Longstaff Col; this is still the standard route on the peak. The summit party were Jakub Bujak and Janusz Klarner.

Karpinski and Stefan Bernadzikiewicz died later in an attempt on Tirsuli (a night avalanche buried them at Camp 3).
