Polystichum imbricans generally is found in rocks and dry places in coniferous forest along the Cascade-Sierra axis from central Washington to southern California. It also occurs at such habitats in moist, maritime forests of north central Idaho. This photo taken along the North Fork Clearwater River in Idaho.
