although technically not difficult, this type of sandstone is very slippery, most rock features have a layer of dusty sand on it. There were two pitons there for protection. Comments[ Post a Comment ] | yatsek | The Danger | |
Voted 10/10 | I just wonder how much harm climbing can do over time to all these sandstone towers of the American SW. | | Posted Mar 19, 2010 4:46 am |

Hasn't voted | I should post some photos of the rope wear too...
You are right, Jacek. The sandstone is incredibly soft and I can imagine climbing this with an ice ax - that would really cause tons of harm. I think it is beautiful to summit desert towers, but the quality of the rock is much better elsewhere... | | Posted Mar 19, 2010 10:32 am |

Voted 10/10 | Liba, maybe not a great thing to do...don't need too much advertising about this topic (guess we all just need to be as careful as we can). Just my humble 5 cents :) Great photo, cheers. | | Posted Mar 19, 2010 12:18 pm |

Hasn't voted | Hi Radek, I mentioned ice axes, but I would never do that... I do not like to alter nature that way. It just felt so soft at some spots... | | Posted Mar 19, 2010 7:42 pm |

Just wondering. How much does the average
climbing rope cost in today's market ??? | | Posted Mar 19, 2010 10:00 pm |
