Needle Mountains

as seen from the top of Vestal Peak. Needle Mountains are remote and rugged mountains within San Juan range of Rockies, Colorado. Composed largely of granite, they have resisted weathering to become the largest concentration of fourteen- and high thirteen thousand foot peaks Colorado has to offer. Usually accessed from the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
