It's dawn at base camp. The sun is up, but still hidden behind Uruashraju Norte, the smaller rocky peak on the left. Our reason for coming here is Uruashraju itself. Fortunately, there is a safer route than the direct approach up the icefall. It's also a lot longer though, which necessitates a high camp on the glacier. 18 July 2011. |
