This is the usual route from the side of Val di Rhemes.
It is a very long journey, not only for the different in eight (1600m),but also
for the lenght. The ref. Benevolo is a good place where divide the route in 2 parts.
The route first goes through the head of Val di Rhemes and than in a valley
(called Comba di Goletta)at the foot of the glacier di Goletta.
No phaths or signals are placed to indicate the route.
The passages are never more than I° or maximum II° near the top.But the
difficult is to find out the right way.
The Punta Bassac Sud,which is more visible, can easily tricks.
The risk of falling stone is remarkable for most of the route.
This is also the normal ski route in spring.

Route description

The red line indicates aproximatly the normal route.
The normal route

From Thumel take the path directed to ref. Benevolo, which is easily
reached in one hour. From the refuge, take the direction n.13D to Colle
Bassac Dere'.The path goes at the foot of the glacier di Goletta;the
impressive Granta Parei is visible for all the distance on your left side.
Watching on the right side, before the path increase the steep,a logic
passage is visible descending from right to left,in the middle of the
rocky flank. Is the only one can do,impossible to loose.
Follow this slope covered of unstable stones. This was the place of the old
southern glacier of Traversiere.
After reached a crest, another slope takes over to the central glacier
of Traversiere.
It's covered of strange green rocks,so easy to recognize.
From here,Punta Bassac Sud is visible.Keep climbing on your right direction,
till the top of the ridge between P.Bassac Sud(left) and
G.Traversiere(right).From here easily climb the ridge towards the summit.

Glacier on the east side doesn't exist anymore.
When the mountain is clean,a normal mountain boots are enough.
Axe and crampons aren't required. The rope is useless.
