ApproachHead out of Canmore on the Smith-Dorrien/Spray Trail past the Grassi Lakes to the Goat Creek day use parking. Cross the road and you will find the trail head on the other side of the dam. From there it is a very direct upward climb to the summit. First hour in the woods the next on fairly solid scree.
This is the down trail for rock climbers. The up and down route for scramblers. You will see a lot of traffic on a nice day. Many people of varying abilities.
Route DescriptionA very solid and well used trail up through the woods. Will be slippery if it has been raining. Very direct, you will be going up quickly. You can pick your way up through the scree once you get above the tree line. The route is easy to find. The summit has exposure on the opposite side. So hand onto your kids and keep your eye on you dog. There is a nice saddle between Miner peak (just below Lawrence Grassi) and Ha Ling peak. This is a good place out of the wind to have lunch if you have small ones with you.
