| When I climbed in the valley as a kid, I always wanted to scale this dome from the valley along with its more notable neighbor, but I'm content these days to walk out to its lofty viewpoint and enjoy the company of whoever I'm with. | ||

| Not sure if I shall actually sign the summit log, for this is more like hiking "down" to the dome... ...guess it counts since the route is listed in approach. Very nice and pleasant hike. Dramatic clouds; pretty great view. Had to race with the storm on the way back - I won! | ||

| With my gf overseas and not feeling like the usual New Year's Eve festivities I through my gear into my car and head to Yosemite on New Years Eve. Upper Pines campsite was only about 70% full when I arrived at 4pm. I broke camp quietly at 5:30am and with Tioga (CA-SR-120) open and completely ice free, I planned to have a crack at Mt Dana or some other such peak along that range. However, the trail heads up that end of Tioga pass were icey enough that I decided to turn back and make it a day for a leisurely North Face hike (I had my ice/snow gear, but I strapped on and off my crampons in the first mile already a few times... not my idea of fun). Just a few patches of snow and ice from the Porcupine trail head, which were no longer slippery by the time I came back. The views here were worth it for me and make sure you do the Indian Rock side trail (a nice natural arch). | ||

| We hiked up the Upper Yosemite Falls trail the day before and camped a bit past Yosemite Point. We woke up and snowshoed out to North Dome. We crossed four or five creeks along the way. Ours were the only tracks we saw for the entire day, including on the dome itself. Pretty arduous hike for snowshoe newbs. | ||

| Hiked this from Porcupine Creek back in 2002, and at the time I was inexperienced and in terrible hiking shape and thought it was a hard hike. I've made a lot of changes since then and now think this hike would be a piece of cake. Need to go back again to conquer this 'difficult' hike, and bring some photography gear while I'm at it. Excellent views from the top! | ||

| Hiked up Snow Creek and then down Yosemite Falls trail after enjoying North Dome. There was a good amount of snow along the top. Enjoyed watching the rare treat of a bobcat stalking a squirrel near Yosemite Point Buttress. | ||

| I took the trail from Porcupine Creek. It's not so bad getting to North Dome, but knowing that you got to go back uphill, kinda sucks. It actually wasn't that bad going back. This would be a better hike to do later in the day, as the sun wouldn't be behind or over Half Dome. The view of Half Dome and Cloud's Rest is super! | ||

| Enjoyed the hike to the top of North Dome on a gorgeous summer Sierra day. Astonishing views of Half-Dome, Basket Dome, west down the Valley. The side trip to Indian Rock is well worth the effort too. The hardest part of this is hiking back to the Tioga Road, as there's a lot more uphill. Now one of my favorite hikes in Yosemite. | ||

| High winds and light rain hit us around pitch 7, just as my partner was starting the second crux (haha). He had a memorable experience. It really seemed as if a T-storm was brewing. We finished the route as fast as we could, then the sun re-emerged. As we were hiking out on the Yosemite Falls trail, the weather worsened once again. We ended up getting pretty damp. The thunder claps made us thankful we were off the dome. | ||

| Backpacked up the Snow Creek Trail and camped out on the North Rim. Great place for a nice campfire. Reached the summit on the second day but had slow going due to the late season snow fields. Camped out near Yosemite Point the second night. Great sunrise! Hiked down the Yosemite Falles trail the next day. | ||
