| I couldn't resist taking Juan on his first hike overlooking Yosemeite Valley after he passed on the Sunrise Lakes-Clouds Rest-Half Dome-Happy Isles hike two days earlier. I was impressed by the scenic, uncrowded trail and the great views of Half Dome. Took about 3 and 1/2 hours including almost an hour taking in views around the dome. We had warmed up by hiking Pothole Dome and swimming in the Tuolomne River after closing up camp in Tuolomne Meadows. | ||

| A nice little hike from Highway 120 - nice to get away from the valley crowds. Still seemed crowded compared to SEKI though! | ||

| sierramtngoat | Via Yosemite Falls Trail ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 10, 2001 | |
| Dayhiked this with my brother the week before dayhiking Half Dome. The trail was mostly though woods past Yosemite Point, so if I were to do it again, it would be via Tenaya Canyon. Incredible view of half dome from the summit. | ||

| Turned this into a great 11+ mile one way hike from Tioga road to Yosemite Valley. Too bad the waterfall was dry, but the day use area at the top of the falls is very interesting. The granite is polished and very smooth with lots of neat crystal clear pools, saw quite a few trout in the pools. | ||

| Three of us hit North Dome during a 3-day backpack in Yosemite. Started at the bottom of the falls and came out by Mirror Lake. Great views of the valley from the top of North Dome. | ||

| Not sure this should count as a "summit" since it is downhill class 1 from Porcupine Creek. Stopped off at North Dome on my way from 120 to Yosemite Valley. Pics are here | ||

| We did this as a warm-up for Half Dome the next day. The trail actually goes down in elevation and you must climb it on the return. The view of Half Dome from the top is one of the best. We hiked to Indian Arch on the way back. | ||

| My partner Larry S. and I ran out of water near pitch six!! We now have a good idea of what the early sourdoughs felt like stumbling out of the desert gasping for a cup of water!! | ||

| Went up Yosemite Falls Trail at 6am with 6 friends. We spread out on the 3.2 mile trail up 2600'. We all met up at Yosemite Point. I continued on to North Dome while the others went back down to camp. I found the trail from Yosemite Point to North Dome to be more up and down than I expected. Beautiful hike through the woods. Saw a deer. When I got to North Dome, I tried to fly a kite that I brought so my kids in the valley below could see it, but there was absolutely no wind on North Dome this day. I tried for an hour to fly my kite but it just dropped listlessly to the ground. Disappointing. Oh well. Nice thing about being on Yosemite Point and North Dome is that you see the Valley from a side that only hikers and climbers get to see. Going back down the Yosemite Falls Trail is tricky. Good 16-mile hike round trip. | ||
