North Face of Blanca

Some good scenery on the north side of Mount Blanca. Blanca Peak is the pointed summit, with Ellingwood Point just to the right. This picture is scanned from a slide I took in 1969. Three Colorado counties meet near the summit of Blanca Peak. Alamosa County on the west, toward the San Luis Valley. Costilla County toward Fort Garland and the highlands south of Blanca. And Huerfano County containing the major drainage, to the north and east. This photo shows the Huerfano County side. See Colorado County Highpoints list.
