Climbed in early Spring expecting a mixed climb. We were surprised to find that most of the North Face was already melted out. We checked out Dicker's Peck while we were there and were not impressed by the rock quality. If you're into class 4 - 5.0 choss scrambling the North Face may be the route for you!
P.S. in this season don't forget to take into account extra mileage for road closures.
Steph and I freeclimbed this after some great summer snow on the field. Took some time & route finding to keep the difficulties manageable but superb climbing! Finished on the summit with a deeply notched but short chimney.
Descended Airplane Gully (we think) but never found any wreckage.
One great mountain!!
I was surprised to find that the snowfield was still fairly soft this late in the season - my first snowclimb in August! Navajo's North Face is easy and a good place to get used to alpine climbing. We accidentally missed the 5.4 direct finish so rapped back down to climb it! Also climbed Dickers Peck - fun little side trip.
Roped up for a couple of pitches on this. would have liked for there to be more technical climbing on the route. Fun mountaineering route! P.S. Dickers Peck is a choss pile!!!!
