| One long day trip. With all the nice bivy sites along the way, next time I think I want to use one of them. The views from the ridge are amazing. | ||

| Solo, flurries started while I was around 2nd tower, thunderstorm started when I hit the summit and dropped about 4" of powder, zero vis all day, good times down climbing loose snowy boulder chutes and steep chimneys with frozen digits. | ||

| fossana | first alpine of the season ![]() Date Climbed: May 30, 2011 | |
| soloed with Mike C Took a alternative line to gain the ridge with technical slab/hard snow. Surprisingly little snow remaining on the route proper, although a light dusting made the crux section a bit slick and sketchier than normal. | ||

| Was lucky to get up this route in between early season storms, <8 hrs car-to-car. Agreed with page author- leave the convoluted route descriptions at home and test your route-finding judgment. | ||

| Dave Daly | North Ridge (Solo) ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 11, 2010 | |
| Armed with a pair of Mountain Masters and good friends, we had a spectacular day out. Minor issues locating the "notch" to access the ridge (too soon). A 1.5 hour correction got us on course. Still had plenty of time to boulder down at Grass Lake and enjoy a burger, fries and an ice cold Sierra Nevada brew! Will definitely do this again (stand by Michelle...your time CTC is going down!) Thanks Blair and Sheila! | ||

| Very long day, nearly free soloed the entire route but roped up the last couple pitches of the summit headwall due to major fatigue setting in. Fun day, but be prepared to spend a full day out. | ||

| cdog | fun sunday ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 6, 2009 | |
| had a fun backpack into Grass Lakes for Labor Day weekend. My buddy Nate and I climbed the NR on Sunday, and certainly found the route fun and adventurous. Had a great time, and really enjoyed the (mostly) solid rock. We climbed the 2nd tower via the right-hand route with 2 fixed pins. We were on the summit at dusk, and descended the scree gully in the dark, which probably is the best time to do so. Pretty cool & adventurous experience overall. | ||

| Just me this time. Made the mistake of trying out a "new" descent down one of the steep W Ridge gullies. Lucked out and managed to make it down to the lakes without too much backtracking. | ||

| Was making good time until an afternoon shower turned into a 12 hour torrent. Retreated down Inyo Creek drainage (not Recommended) only to find Whitney Portal road washed out and closed. Really want to go back and get this one done. | ||

| sierrasclimber | Only as a day ![]() | |
| I would only recommend this as a day route with stronger 5.7-5.9 with minimal gear so you can move fast and solo lots of the route. Way fun then. | ||

| Steve1215 | North Ridge Death Route! ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 4, 1993 | |
| I hadn't been climbing in two years...but went up to do this route anyway, thinking that it would be trivial, a total waste of my time--since I considered myself to be a good rock climber! We brought a 9mm rope along and maybe 8 hexes for the "interesting variations" we might find... Didn't feel like downclimbing a certain boring tower...so we climbed the tower's wrong side instead. Knowing I was way off route, I launched up an 80-degree finger crack anyway, thinking "piece of cake." NOT GOOD! Looked down and noticed two hexes had wiggled out, and I was facing a 95-foot fall, getting VERY pumped, shaky, etc! I made the usual deal with God, and somehow gained the ledge safely, after a horribly wicked runout. I'm signing this log cause this was the closest I'd ever come to getting myself killed--I almost got killed on a route that's basically third class. Jeeeez! --Steve P.S. Then we suffered the indignity of several hundred mosquito bites on the hike out. | ||

| poorboy44 | Complete North Ridge in Winter ![]() Date Climbed: Jan 31, 2009 | |
| Made a CTC winter ascent of the complete North Ridge (from the Owens Valley) with Charles Ince and Nate Ricklin. We started at 10:15 PM on Jan 30, and climbed through the night until sunrise, when we took about an hour break to brew up. We summited at 5:30 PM and took and additional 9 hours to descend Tuttle Creek and find our way back to the car at about 2:30 AM (due to exhaustion we had about an hour nap in a cave in Tuttle Creek). Total CTC time was 29 hours. We didn't bring any bivy gear -- though we did bring costumes. | ||

| Nice route done I'm not sure how long ago (1992?). A manageable day from Whitney Portal. Long but continually interesting, especially finding a mellow route without a rope. | ||
