N. Face Nocito via Refugio Fenales (nearly-winter ascent).
This is a fine way to ascend in winter. The slopes above the refuge were still snowy but it was easy walking, no kit needed. You need to find the path from Nocito de Used (some folk start in Used) and once in the grassy plains above, the path is a very vague, but there if you persevere. (Or you can do what some do and look further east for the track up to the refuge at 1,400m). From there, the ascent is straightforwards, once you've found the track sort-of-behind the refuge. (Un-manned hut). We had tried the "normal" (Barranco de Pillera) North approach earlier in the season and had got caught in a snow-storm. This was my first time on the summit of this, my local mountain.
