Humid day  Sucess!

Had one day at Baxter after camping near the Matagamon entrance. This was the first of three peaks, the others being Trout Brook Mtn and Horse Mtn. Great views, tons of blueberries (and bear scat). Probably the most humid day I've ever experienced in New England. Hopefully will make it back someday during a cooler time to do Katahdin.

North Traveler Mountain  Sucess!

Climbed with Peak of the Ridges and Traveler via the Center Ridge Trail from South Branch. The final summit in a magnificent circut hike. With almost half of the trail at or above treeline, this has to be one of the most scenic hikes in New England. A hidden gem of a hike indeed.

cold & windy August  Sucess!

Went up the North Traveler trail, took longer than expected due to the amount of blueberries. Great hike, incredible views. Very windy up top but good views of Katahdin and the other mountains.

partial circuit  Sucess!

Intercepted my party who got an earlier start and did the full Traveler circuit.
Fantastic views on a perfect weather day - not quite peak foliage yet but still spectacular.
While eating dinner in camp, got a visit from the ranger who wasn't happy that I'd forgotten to sign out after my climb - the register is by the dock and ranger station, but the trailhead is further east, and we'd gone directly to our campsite without passing the register on the way out.

From the Traveler  Sucess!

Bushwacked over from the Traveler and thence back to South Branch Pond. Also climbed it one morning in August of 1964.
