As of the August 2015 the summer snow conditions were such that you can also get to this face fairly easily by walking the standard East ridge West to the rock outcrop where people usually go for pictures after tagging the summit. From here, its an easy and non-exposed scramble or walk at the edge of the rock outcrop the curves to the North and East, descending to the base of the North East ridge. I think this rock outcrop may be the top of the cliff you are referring to, which this summer was free of snow cover and left a nice easy shelf to walk along. Talk about a lot of work for a short reward, but a fun place to do steep snow for sure!
