Just read the trip report. Thanks so much for posting -- I think many people can learn from this.

I just spoke with Nelson this evening a couple hours after he got out of surgery. It turned out he did have a dislocated shoulder - a "posterior left shoulder dislocation." He is going to have to wear an awkard brace for a month but hopefully after that recovery will be swift.

OMG!

I climbed this route a few years ago, but it was in July, and the snow seemed more consolidated than this looks. But you know, maybe not, there is always the outside chance that it will give way. In any case, the slope takes a dogleg to the right a little ways up, and it would be a very, very bad place to be flushed out of. I hope that his injuries are fully healed, and that he is climbing with the same dedication and enjoyment as before this mishap. Um, yikes...
