| Only person on top that day! Great feeling despite the cold and windy conditions. Started 1AM, finished 5PM. Couple hours sleep behind some logs half-way. It's depressing approaching at night, as the light on top of the summit buildings seems to stay equally far away no matter how many miles you cover. A truly excellent training mountian! 26 Miles, yeah! | ||

| 12 hours round trip including a one hour lunch at the summit. Alpine Master ate chili on the summit and about crapped himself on the way down. Devil Dog Dudeman was a hard charger. Great day! | ||

| This was the second time I had run the Pikes Peak Marathon - certainly the strangest motive I've ever had to "climb" a peak. The Barr Trail is pretty straight forward. Just long and sustained, particularly the last 3K vert.. If I were hiking it, I'd bring along a water filter as there were a couple of seasonal streams that were still running in Aug which would provide water without having to carry it from the bottom. Past A frame it's wide open and typically windy up the last 3K vert. I'll be back to run this but unless I really had to tick this peak on my list, I would opt for a more remote peak or a different route on Pikes, something on the southeast side. | ||

| My 1st real 14er. My ist attempt I did solo while visiting the State for work. I came from LA but didn't have much trouble with the altitude. I got shut down just below the false summit. The fog was very, very thick and the lightning came. I had a hard time finding the road back. But I went back another day, made it to the top and ate a burger at the top. I was amazed at how may people thought I was crazy for hiking up. I was thinking they were crazy for driving up! | ||

| Beautiful, hot weather. Great views. Exhausting, long hike. Interesting climate/scenery. Summit is an ugly parking lot! --> But I knew that beforehand. Definitely a worthwile hike. Lots of very nice people on the trail. + several "confused" tourists that had no idea what it meant to hike 25+ miles and 7400 ft. | ||

| Definitely a different type of experience. Hiking along the road for the last 2 miles was unusual. Tourists looked at me a little funny in the summit house. I had to haul back to treeline because of approaching weather. On the plus side, I really like the Crags route. Really nice approach and a nice trail for the most part. Most of the snow was gone so it was pretty much just a nice hike. Took about 7 hours RT (and my speed is average). | ||

| Started up at 6:35AM with hard snow pack on the trail all the way up to tree line and beyond. I went up the ridge to the left of the saddle due to heavy snow. Crossed more snow going thru the notch at the rock wall near Devils Playground. Saw several race cars and motorcycles when crossing the road. Summited at 10:30AM stayed a half hour then back down, the warm weather made all the snow soft and postholing created more work heading down. Back to the car at 2:13PM, my 9th 14'er and another beautiful Colorado day, sweet! | ||

| Great day, hard work! ...but kinda makes you sick when you climb 7,400 feet in elevation, 13 miles in a day, and you get to the top only to find fat tourists eating hotdogs! ....dumb drivers! | ||

| I saw relatively few people on this mid-week hike (at-least until the summit). Summited in about 6 hours after a pre-dawn start. Caught a ride down with my wife and her family who had driven up. | ||

| I needed a nice long hike to prepare for Kit Carson the following weekend, so a buddy and I chose this one. I was surprised how remote and isolated we felt leaving the CG and hiking up a 14er on a very sketchy trail (it was almost 20 years ago). The solitude disappeared above timberline when we encountered the road and began climbing the tundra above it. Even stranger was the summit, where tourists from other states looked at us like Hillary and Tenzing!!! Oh, to be a flatlander with such low aspirations! | ||

| I climbed this peak twice, why Aug? Because I like to take a nice vacation for my birthday. Both times I did not hike down, once I took the cog rail, another I hitchhiked. It was my first hike on one of the USA's bigger mountains. Beautiful! | ||
