Weather was perfect, people were everywhere, all over the mtns. It was nice to see how many people are getting into hiking 14ers. Descending Bross was interesting with all the loose scree, it was almost easier to "ski" down the rocks.
Route Climbed: West Gulch from Kite Lake via Cameron Date Climbed: June 1, 2002
We climbed the mountain of the great emancipator in early June along with Cameron & Bross (we climbed Democrat on out honeymoon). It was a clold windy snowy early season day. Tis was nice because it kept the crowds away from Kite Lake.
Route Climbed: West Ridge Date Climbed: May 25, 2002
Easy summit from Cameron. I think it only took 15 minutes to reach the peak. Number 5 was great because the good republican, Honest Abe, was 138 feet taller than the opposing democratic mountain top.
Route Climbed: Mt. Democrat saddle Date Climbed: June 2004
Mt. Lincoln is the best peak out of all these in the area (Bross, Democrat, Cameron). It is steeper and has a better view of surrounding mountains. All 4 of these though are great for beginners to 14ers.
Route Climbed: Decalibron Date Climbed: July 1, 2005
I thoroughly enjoyed this peak. The final section of the trail snakes creatively through the summit rocks, putting you on top in almost effortless fashion. This is a handsome peak, particularly from the traverse to Mount Bross.
Route Climbed: Traversed over from Bross, as part of Decalibron in reverse. Date Climbed: July 1, 2005
#2 for the day, doing the Decalibron in reverse. Nice sunny day, but super windy and somewhat chilly (about 32 at the TH at 6am). Not much snow left, ran this in running shoes w/ a light pack to train for the Pikes Peak Ascent.
Route Climbed: Kite Lake: Democrat, Lincoln, Bross Date Climbed: June 11th, 2005
Climbed, Democrat (Southeast Face), Cameron, Lincoln, Bross, and South Bross. Great hike with lots of time spent at altitude. Took approximately 6 hours for the trip.
Route Climbed: Kite Lake Date Climbed: July 19, 2004
After the initial climb up Democrat, my lung capacity (altitude adjustment!) & the ATP in my muscles were finally finding their rhythm- this was a great hike & great views as always!
