| Left Horseshoe Meadows Friday, Oct. 9 via Cottonwood Pass for a first night south of Rock Creek. Left our camp at 5:00 a.m. Saturday and summited at 11:30. After a cold and windy half hour at the summit, we hiked back to our packs and trucked back to Horseshoe Meadows for a 12-hour day. This was my first Fourteener... only fourteen left. Definitely an A+ trip!! | |

| Old Army Pass up, New Army down. Preferred Old Army trail which was not hard to follow. Be prepared for the trk up sand near the base of Langley which isn't as much fun as climbing the rocks. Nice sheer dropoff the top to the east. Could see Muir, Whitney, Russell, Tyndall and Williamson from here. Nice!! | |

| The second 14er I've climbed with my pops, a great trip. Thought he was going to poop out 13,500' and I went ahead, but then he met me on top about 15 minutes after I made it. Started to blow hard on top and the thunder and lightning came just as we were starting to descend Old Army Pass shutting down the summit for a few hours. | |

| So I've looked all over the place for other routes besides old & new army pass. I ran into 2 groups that headed down (what I believe) is called the Gorge. Anyone have any info on this, it's the finger at the top of lake 5. We talked to 2 different party's the 1st was a single guy that was just winging it, said he tried it and it was no problem. The second group later that day, sounded like he had been up Langley 10+ times, and told me there were many routes up the canyon and prefered this route over old army any day of the week. We decided to give it a go the next morning and found that it was a great way to go. Some climbing over large boulders and some deep sandy trails. It was a fast and very fun path up to the ridge, it also took about 1 1/2 miles off our hike. I'l be doing it again next time. I would probably recommend old army pass for the descent, unless you have time to boulder down this way. If anyone else has info on this canyon, please pass on the info. Great summit, no crowd....clear and windy. Beautiful lunch spot. I'll be back soon. | ||

| Climbed via Old Army Pass on the way up. Then, made the long walk over to Cirque Peak and went back down New Army Pass. Old Army was much more direct whereas the switchbacks on New Army seemed to take forever. Assuming OAP is relatively snow free, I would definely recommend it over NAP. | |

| Snow flurries and deteriorating weather made my summit stay about 2 minutes. Crowded summit made it anti climatic | |

| Hiked in from Horseshoe Meadow to Long Lake on August 5, and set out the next morning for Langley via New Army Pass. The cold wind kept the skeeters away at the lake, though it required all the layers I had plus a balaclava. Got a bit off route and missed the easy passage up to the summit plateau, but found a place to climb without too much trouble (I'm far more a hiker than climber). Beautiful views from the top. | |

| Great climb on Mount Langley this weekend! We ditched the tent and slept under the stars at Lake #3. What an amazing view; billions of stars, the Milky Way Galaxy, and satellites racing across the sky. We also took a refreshing, albeit cold dip in the lake. Unfortunately, the mosquitos were a pest. On Sunday morning we started for the summit and found a dead body wrapped in a space blanket halfway down the slope. We found out she had slipped and fallen several hundred feet to her death the morning before. A rescue helicopter came and retrieved the body. We made it to the summit late in the morning and the view was amazing; maybe better than the view from the summit of Whitney. We could see Mount Whitney, other surrounding peaks, and the town of Lone Pine far below. We then hiked the 10 miles back to the car and drove back home to sunny San Diego. | |

| Dayhiked Langley via Old Army Pass with commando tang in approx 13 hrs. Our third, Aj, developed blisters on Gibbs the day before so he kept the tent after our 3:45am departure. Originally, we planned on climbing via New Army Pass, but changed our minds mid-way. The end of the pass was covered with snow so we headed up an easy class three chute. The 6hr drive home to the bay area was pure pain. | |

| Camped at Cottonwood Lakes, then hiked up via Old Army Pass to the summit in 3 hours. Left the trail and scrambled over large boulders on a straight line to the summit. Great views from the top. | |

| Camped on moraine above the fifth Cottonwood Lake then headed up the pass north of Old Army Pass in the morning. Windy up top, but great weather relative to the past couple of weeks. Found the benchmark but no register. Mosquitoes starting to come out around the meadows and marshes. | |

| Dayhiked Langley's NE Couloir with Forjan & Seano. The weather was very warm below but chilly up top with some snow flurries at the summit. The snowshoes were a definite must have and the glissade down the couloir was a blast. Took us around 12 hours roundtrip. | |
