"Mount Kinabalu the Summit : ( 4101m)

Highest Mountain in South East Asia.

This superb Mount Kinabalu is becoming Malaysian Heritage .4 times I reach the summit of Mt Kinabalu in the year 1994/1995 1997 and 2004 climbing to Low's Peak. The view is very fascinating .

But in 1995 during my second climb the weather is foggy and wet because of the heavy downpour. Can't view the beautiful scenery and have to rush down quickly for safety precaution!!!The heavy fog make the trek to go down so difficult .

The third climb in 1997 manage to view beautiful scenery at the peak.Take many beautiful pictures.

This is one of my favourite peaks.

Imagine a horde of asian teenagers, who never bothered to walk more than half an hour in the plains! But now they are eager to conquer south-east-asias highest peak. And, believe it or not, some even make it! The others are cheerfull as well, celebrating their achievement (even if they are still in sight of Laban Rata Hut).

This is a beginner’s peak. But, a very good one!

Unbelievably big steps led past pitcher plants to the comfortable lodge. The sunrise was stunning and I was transfixed by the rounded, twisting spires (~50' relief) of untouched granite that protrude from the summit plateau. They promise the most bodacious alpine sport climbing that I can imagine! Dad rolled an ankle on the descent, but I highly recommend the climb overall. Chantik! We'll dig up some photos and contribute...

A fabulous trek up the longest stairway in the world. The Laban Rata lodge at about 11,000' is a bit too civilized, but the view down to the steamy Borneo forests is fabulous. Leave for the top by 2:00-3:00 AM to hopefully summit before the clouds roll in. The routefinding is simple: a 2" diameter rope marks the track. A great hike!
