| Left for summit at 7:00am, reached the top at 10:40. We were running for our lives from lightning by 10:50. Probably set a speed record for the descent. | ||

| Solo and did not see a single person until I ran into a couple on the summit who came up from Winfield. Saw 2 people on way down. | ||

| A beautiful day for my last summit. I was actually considering doing this peak via Ellingwood Ridge but after Princeton, I did not feel like making things hard on myself and decided to just take the main trail and enjoy my last summit of the summer. Once on the summit, I was all alone and it was the best view I had all week long. I decided to do what I always wanted to do, and thus I beat off right there on the summit and left a piece of me for everyone to enjoy. It was a great culmination to a hard week of peakbagging. | ||

| My 2nd attempt (first Oct. 2000, started out too late, partner was out of shape and slowed us down as well); coming off night shift, didn't sleep at TH camp, indigestion from failing vegetarian diet, drank 3 beers night before, altitude sickness started at peak and lasted for a while down, dry heaves and all. Made it, though! | ||

| Beautiful day, but we didn't feel great. So many wildflowers! Next attempt will be Ellingwood. | ||

| Awesome route! Solo climb, 8hrs trailhead to summit. Stayed up high on the ridge but avoided most of the 5th class. This route is definately not a walkup and should not be underestimated. | ||

| I underestimated this beast!! The route's difficulties are sustained and feature plenty of challenging route finding. It took me about 7.75hrs to reach the top, 10.5hrs car to car. I stayed mostly on the ridge, but ducked off of it a few times when things looked 5th class. A dusting of snow didn't help things either! | ||

| A beautiful day, with clear sunny skies (and I left my camera in the car!!). Summitted with Spencer the dog, who had quite a bit of trouble with the talus on the descent- I had to help and coax him the whole way down until the rocks turned back to dirt trail, even though it was his 8th 14'er (my 17th, not counting repeats and alternate routes). Class 1's for him in the future, I think. | ||

| Perfect fall day after this year's 1st snowfall overnight. Maybe 2 to 3 inches above 13,000' but no problems. La Palta is a challenging climb with something for everybody. Check out the TR | ||

| Good, but cold climb. Grey and chilly day; heard an avalanche which sounded like it came off Ellingwood ridge while on the way down..... | ||

| We left the TH at 8am and reached the summit at 11am. The initial ascent out of the highway valley is lung-popping, but the climb gets easier after that. The ascent up the slopes to the NW ridge is also tough. Once on the ridge the trail is easy to find all the way to the summit. Admire the jagged Ellingwood Ridge to the east as you climb the NW ridge. Great views of all the Sawatch peaks on top. There was heavy sleet on the descent! | ||

| 5 of us climbed. 4 made the summit. The basin below La Plata on this route is stunning. Fabulous views of Huron and the Three Apostles to the south. Great day, great climb, great friends. | ||
