| This mountain is completely destroyed by old mining activity. If you're going for all of them, you just gotta muscle through this one. The only fun part is the summit ridge - had a nice cornice to deal with which made an otherwise boring 14er a fun one. From the top, you can see there's a nice drainage on the east side of the valley that is really fun to go down in the snow vs. the way up. You can get some glissading in and you skip all the tailings piles on the west side that you hated climbing up and around.. Follow it and it comes out right back on the 4wd road just below the final gate on the road. Just don't go in it when avalanche conditions are bad...death trap if something triggered. | ||

| Great climb with Bill of Dearborn, IL. New views, save a great snowy ridge. Easy climb, even in winter white out conditions, save for a bit of routefinding. | ||

| The most uneventful 14er I've done. This is a very good beginning 14er. This will let you begin to interpret weather issues at altitude without overtaxing yourself. | ||

| Yet another 14er this summer with Patrick. Sherman is an easy walk up allbeit quite windy in a few spots this early October. We counted over 30 14ers from the summit on this cloudless day as well as one yappy Bichon Frise - without a doubt the smallest dog I have ever seen on a 14er summit! | ||

| Easy by 14er standards, though there was quite a bit of scree and loose rock. No one else was coming from the Leadville side today, so I was surprised to find myself alone at the trailhead. If you park at the road closure sign, make sure you walk up the road for 3/4 mile before diving into the basin at a cairned turnoff. I bushwhacked quite a bit before finding the trail. After that it was a slog up rocky slopes all the way to the summit. A few false peaks, and a long ridge on top. | ||

| I climbed this in late July of 2004, solo. It was a bluebird sky day and I summited the peak at 9:30 am. I parked much below the ultimate parking area so that I would ascend approx. 3,000 feet to the summit. The hike was extremely easy, but was a beautiful hike nonetheless. I enjoyed the old mine remnants along the hike and from the summit you have the dual views of both South Park to the east and the Arkansas Valley of Leadville, with Elbert and Massive to the west. | ||

| My first 14er, hope it's not my last. Think I did pretty well for an overweight and old flatlander from Indiana. Thanks to my new son-in-law, DJ, for showing me the way. I love you son. | ||

| Climbed with my ten year old son. His first fourteener. There were probably 100 people on the mountain this Saturday of Labor Day weekend. I was surprised at how late many of them were starting given the clouds forming. | ||

| We had perhaps our most bizarre 14er experience ever on Sherman. As we were descending Sherman on our way to Gemeni, my wife & I approached a couple of people that were fixated on a large furry object on the ground. Hush my mouth & kiss my grits! it was a beaver about 20 of 30 feet from the summit of Sherman. This was extremely bizarre. At the end of the day we concluded that the rodent was carried up the mountain by a raptor of some description. It appeared injured/dazed. This is one of Colorado's easiest 14ers. | ||
