| This route is not traveled very often, but is a nice way up Sherman. Bush whacked for about .25 miles and then found the gulley to start heading up. Gained the ridge and could see Gemini and what we thought was Sherman. Headed towards Sherman and realized that we were headed towards a false summit. Traversed to the west and then headed to the summit. Nice day, lots of people on top, and then headed toward Gemini. | ||

| Short climb to a flat summit. According to notes made by my father on that trip, one couple up there had a 6-week old baby with them! Not wise. | ||

| Short hike but really brutal winds once on the ridge. Sherman may be regarded as easy but it's still 14000ft and still needs a lot of respect. Started the hike from the Leadville side (Iowa Gulch). Plenty of easy parking. The trail up to the col between Sheridan and Sherman was windy and was fairly uninteresting. Coming up to the col from the other side i.e. the traditional, slightly longer route past the deserted mines, would have been more sheltered and more interesting. Winds were gale force on the ridge but it was possible, with a couple of wind-blasted exceptions, to stay sheltered on the leeward side of the ridge. The first summit is false (but its hard to tell that). A short 5 minute flat stretch puts you on the real summit with the summit register. We saw one couple go down after reaching the false summit. Some snow and hail on the top so even in July it can be rough up there! | ||

| First fourteener for me in a few years. After sitting in front of the computer all winter and a good portion of spring, gaining an inordinate amount of weight, this "easiest fourteener" wore me out! After reading about the flat, expansive summit, I found the relatively narrow south ridge from the Sherman/Sheridan saddle to be surprisingly interesting and lots of fun. | ||

| Summitted under atrocious whether conditions: freezing temperatures, howling wind, and lots of snow. In hindsight it probably would have been smarter to abort the attempt and turn around, but with a little bit of dogged determination, some stupidity, and quite a quite a bit of luck we made it (and back down) safely. | Real good 1st fourteener. Trail is ok until you reach the hilltop mine. Kinda confusing. Look for cairns. Once you reach the saddle separating Sherman and Sheridan the hike is real clean from there. Forgot my camera! | ||

| You know what? I didn't like this mountain. I don't think I've said that very often, but this mountain just doesn't do it for me. The multiple criss-crossed climbers trails, the boring ugly summit. Blech. Maybe I'm too picky?? | ||

| A mellow fourteener that makes a nice training hike. The giant summit region stands out in my mind as the most impressive thing about Sherman. The views of Mount Elbert and Massive are pretty nice too. Jon | ||

| The first time we got this one it was from the Iowa Gulch side and it was some of the worst weather I have ever been out in. We literally could not see more that 10 feet in front of us due to the snow and the wind from the north that was really cranked up. The only way we knew we were on the summit ridge was the shelters that we could barely make out in front of us. The second time was also VERY windy, probably the strongest sustained wind I have been in. For such a tame looking peak, Sherman has a way of making you think twice about summiting it. | ||

| Easy trail on this sunny day except very windy in particular on the summit; feared to be blown off. Never experienced such wind gusts before! Started off at the Leavick Site. My little car just goes that far. Did not encounter anyone on this hike! | ||

| I wasn't looking forward to coming back to this mountain after nearly reaching the summit last year and having to turn around. I eventually decided to come back to finish it off. I made the summit in a little over 2 hours and saw a group of kids from a summer camp on the summit. On the way back down I misplaced my trekking pole and made a valiant attempt to find it again once I realized my mistake but it was gone. | ||

| This was the first 14'er I ever climbed. I was 8 years old a the time. This is the mountain that started me on the path that has now become an obsession. This page brings back a lot of memories. Thanks. | ||

| My only 14'er of the summer this year- not a good season for me- much too busy at work! Easy but fun, especially climbing with a group of friends (1st 14'er for several of them). #4 for Spencer the Mountain Dog. | ||
