| Peter Gram | 4 Peaks in a Day ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 2, 2008 | |
| I climbed Henrys Fork Peak, West Gunsight Peak, Kings Peak, and South Kings Peak in a day from Henrys Fork Trailhead. Round trip was around 12 hours. I also climbed Kings Peak as a two-day trip in August 1998. | ||

| Summitted with the wife...aka "punchline". We used the Henry's Fork drainage and the shortcut after Gunsight Pass which saved a couple miles. Only rain we got was when we were in the tent in the evening. | ||

| Nice trip - camped about 1 mile south of Dollar Lake close to Gunsight Pass and found this great basin to call "home." Basically had the area to ourselves. Managed to avoid the crowds and the afternoon thunderstorms. Would like to try Anderson Pass Scree ascent next time! | ||

| 9/5/09: First of a quad, which also included South Kings Peak, Gunsight Peak, and Gilbert Peak. 9/6/08: Solo day-hike on a clear but cold and windy Saturday. I was hoping to better my previous time, but about 8 inches of snow and fierce winds slowed me down greatly. Summited in 4:25 and round trip in 9:10. 9/3/06: Solo day-hike on a beautiful but crowded Labor Day weekend. Reached the summit in 3:35, and door-to-door from Henry's Fork trailhead in 7:02. Despite the crowded trail I lucked out and had the summit to myself. 3/25/06: Summited on a one day ski trip as part of the Wasatch Mountain Club's annual Kings Peak ski tour. Left the parking area at 5:15am and summited just after 2:00pm. Building storm clouds encouraged a rather quick summit stay. Arrived back at vehicle in the dark, just short of 8:00 pm. See the photo album for pictures. 7/29/00: A two-day hike from Henry's Fork. Camped about a mile above Dollar Lake then summited and hiked out on day 2. Descended the steep scree field from Anderson Pass instead of returning to Gunsight Pass - a nasty descent which I probably won't repeat. | ||

| Camped at Dollar Lake. We passed everyone on our way in and almost had the area to ourselves. The last little climb to the peak was fun. Had a good time on the peak and went straight down instead of following the trail back. | ||

| 9/4/2009 With Scott Wesemann. We were lucky and just missed some really bad weather. 7/19/2009 Day hike from Henrys Fork TH. Expected a zoo, but saw almost no one. 7/7/2009 In one long 17 hour, 28+ mile day starting from the Henrys Fork TH, I did Kings Peak, S Kings Peak, Painter Peak (13387), and Trail Rider Peak (13247). Then descended into Painter Basin, back over Gunsight Pass, and back to the start. The weather was perfect. 3/28/2009 Annual WMC ski trip. Grueling, but fun day and beautiful weather. Over a foot of new snow. 10 people made the summit. 16:45 round trip. 3/29/2008 Annual WMC ski trip. Skied 14 miles, almost to the top of Gunsight Pass and then booted another 2 to the top of Kings Peak for 32 miles round trip. Left at 5:20 am (last person out of camp) and got back to the car at 9:20 pm for a total of 16 hours. I got to Gunsight Pass at 11:55 am, Kings at 3:05 pm, and back to Gunsight at 5:10 pm. Started at Henry's Fork winter parking which is another 7 miles round trip from the summer trailhead. Truely the hardest thing I've ever done. The weather was cloudy and it was flurrying off and on for the first 5 hours. Then it gradually cleared up but was incredibly windy from Elkhorn Crossing on. Fortunately, it was relatively warm (in the 20's). The skiing part was easy (at least for those of us who had been on skis more than once), the rest of it was not. The hardest part was traversing across the steep slope at the base of 13103 on the way to the base of Kings Peak. I got blown over once on the way over and slipped once on the way back, but fortunately brought an ice axe and managed two successful self arrests. Twelve people made it to the summit including MOCKBA and Moogie737 who had only been on x-country skis once before. 9/11/1999 11 hour, 24 mile day hike from the Henrys Fork Summer TH with MM. Early 1990's A leisurely 5 day backpack with lesdubois. Started at China Meadows and went up Smiths Fork over Smiths Fork Pass, up to Andersons Pass, up to Kings, down to Painter Basin, over Gunsight Pass, across Henrys Fork Basin, over the lower part of the Flattop ridge and back to the start. | ||

| TLP | First time backpacking ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 21, 2009 | |
| Went with a buddy from Flagstaff. First time that I went backpacking. We stayed at Dollar Lake. Next day we made the summit. We didn't take the shortcut at gunsight pass, and that made things longer. Then on the way back we again didn't take the shortcut, and sort of got all mixed up on the trails down in the basin. Sort of made our own trail back to Gunsight Pass. Overall it was a great experience. I'll always remember it. | ||

| Wasatchvoyage | Kings and S.Kings in a day. ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 14, 2009 | |
| Decided to hit this and South Kings in a day via Henry's Fork. 6 hours to the summit via the t.h. Had the summit to myself, then hit up S. Kings. This peak completed a few goals, a county highpoint, highest peak in Utah, and finished off all of the Utah ultra prominent summits. | ||

| 9/7 went back for a day hike. Perfect weather. Up and back in 15 hours - not blazing but good for me. Loved it! Had the summit to myself on Labor Day. 8/7 Didn't summit. Got to Gunsight Pass where half of my group declared they could go no further. In their defense, we were hammered pretty hard the day and night before by thunderstorms, hail, rain, and cold temps. I'll be going back to day-hike this around Labor Day in order to summit. Beautiful area. | ||

| Exact same experience as 96avs01. My estimate ~500 people in the area the days we were in there. ~100 people in the trailhead register by 1pm when we left most on 4-5 day trips. The area was a zoo. When I left there were 6 cars in line to take my parking spot because all parking + overflow + horse trailer parking was full. | ||

| appreciated a trailhead quota system until visiting this area. We signed in at noon, after 82 other people (that all seemed to be heading towards Dollar Lake)! Summit day was nice with the traverse from Gunshot Pass to Anderson Pass saving ~2 miles. Descended the scree/talus chute back into the drainage for more mileage savings. Nice peak, but way too many people! | ||

| About 30 minutes before we reached the Dollar Lake area to set up camp the rain rolled in and didn't stop for about 12 hours. Once we frantically got the tents up in the rain the thunder and lighting hammered the basin for a solid 2 hours with a couple strikes easily within a mile. Pretty crazy to feel it that close! We woke up the next time hoping for better weather but the peak was covered in dark clouds for two hours while we were deciding to head up, then the rain started again. We packed up and headed back to the trailhead. At home the weather channel had issued multiple warnings for heavy rains and lighting in the area. We hated turning back but we'll have to try for the summit again. | ||

| Base camp was at Smiths Fork Lake, climbed Kings on day 2. The huge alpine meadows we crossed between Smiths Fork Pass and Anderson Pass were really nice. Had to wait at Anderson Pass to see what the storm would do - when it looked like it was blowing away to the east, we went for it and the weather was nice by the time we got to the top. This is at least as cheesy as it is cool, but we brought Kings Peak Porter to drink on the summit. Day 3 climbed Wilson Peak and spent a third (and cold) night before heading down. | ||

| Dayhike. I hiked solo until I hooked up with Art and Jeff. Art and i missed the short cut at Gunsight and suffered through pain-ter basin to summit jamboree. Upon departing the summit block,I slipped on snow and broke my left hand):. Thanks to Art and Jeff for medical services rendered. | ||
