| MtnLdr | Great Overnight! ![]() Date Climbed: Feb 21, 2009 | |
| I'm pretty sure I was successfull. It was nearly whited-out, with a pretty hefty wind. Great time though, broke trail for about two miles, had the mountain all to myself. | ||

| MorganF | First Mountaineering Expedition Ever! ![]() Date Climbed: Dec 12, 2008 | |
| It was a beautiful and COLD Lake Placid morning. I had just bought tons of ice climbing and mountaineering gear without ever having set foot on a snowy mountain or climbed an ice cube (i'm from the south). The day was about 10 degrees and sunny. The climb was flawless and easy. 40 mph winds above tree line brought the temp down to about -20 wind chill (the coldest i'd ever felt) but we summited in light westcomb jackets and a few baselayers. I wasn't even cold (probably adrenaline) even though a guy with an exposed face had gotten minor frostbite on his nose (get a clava dude!). It was a perfectly clear day and we could see for miles and miles. We forgot the camera, go figure, but it wouldn't have worked anyway. Too cold. Great experience and a perfect first climb. | ||

| friday | First High Peak in the Adirondacks ![]() Date Climbed: Jan 2, 2009 | |
| First High Peak, and first peak in the Adirondacks! Not much snow until the turnoff to Wright's Peak. Very steep hike after that. Crampons needed after the tree line. It was windy, snowing, visibility limited to a few dozen yards, and possibly the coldest temperature I've ever been exposed to outside. But, I had a blast! Can't wait to get back to do a few more peaks in the area. | ||

| Tahawus | Algonquin Peak ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 9, 2006 | |
| Climbed with Wright and Iroquois via the McIntyre Range Trail from the Adirondack Loj. A beautiful mountain indeed. Many expansive lawns of Deer's Hair Sedge and Bigelow's Sedge on Algonquin's grassy summit dome. The only drawback proved to be the crowds of people at the top. Found more solitude over on Iroquois. | ||

| CaLculAted Risk | Soaking Rain ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 20, 2008 | |
| Climbed Algonquin from the Loj in a full day rainstorm. The trail from Wright's junction looked like a river with waterfalls. Each step and hand placement had to be carefully thought out lest we be knocked back down the trail. Summit was cold with sideways frozen rain and no views (in a cloud). We had to shout to communicate with eachother and of course, the camera failed. It was a great challenge and a great experience. I hope to summit again someday in better weather. | ||

| goat14er | Intro to the East ![]() Date Climbed: May 25, 2008 | |
| Quite an adventure for my first peak east of the Mississippi. Great views and steep trail made it feel no different than out West. Strong winds and rain on top added to the excitement. | ||

| Spindle | Crazy weather ![]() Date Climbed: May 23, 2008 | |
| Weather alternated between sun and rain until we reached the treeline, then it was all wind and blowing mist. Completely socked in. The trail was still snow/ice covered above 3500' and very slippery. | ||

| Was a great day for a hike/climb, about as perfect a day as could be asked for. We did the climb in one day from the ADK Loj, was enough for me! First trip in the Adirondacks. | ||

| JonW | First Time in Daks ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 21, 2002 | |
| We did this as part of a 3 day loop in the Daks after doing Marcy. I found the descent on the otherside pretty steep and it took a lot out of the legs...but maybe I was really out of shape back then. | ||

| Steger | Canadian Thanksgiving ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 7, 2007 | |
| With terrible pronunciation, we Bostonians greeted each French Canadian we passed with, "Joyeux action de grace!" We were rained on for most of the four days of this backpacking trip. | ||

| Koba | Awesome trek ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 7, 2007 | |
| Algonquin and Wright were my first High Peaks. Full overcast, decent snowfall and icy conditions above 3000' and just awesome. Definitely recommend stabilizers or crampons at this time of the year as I managed to bite it repeatedly above the treeline. | ||
