| An easy hike with great summit views. Loved the park and will definitely return. Saw one guy who carried his kid all the way to the summit. If only I could find someone to do that... | ||

| I know Mt. Lassen is considered nontechnical and doesn't come close to stacking up to peaks like Shasta or Rainier, but it's a fun trip anyway. I try to do a climb of Lassen at least once a year. It is such a great mountain in a magnificent national park. One incredible view north to Shasta and out to the Sacramento Valley from the top. I never get tired of it. | ||

| What is arguably the easiest big Cascade peak to summit was a really trying time for me. Coming off a badly sprained ankle, I did this hike with my friend, Brian, for the first of this years' annual hiking trip. I suffered through the climb and was really in pain with a re-swollen ankle at the top. Coming down was twice as worse and long. What should have been about a 2 hour round trip turned into 6 for me as an 80 year old woman called Granny passed by me as well as young children. Oh yeah, I did this one in style! Then, afterwards, all the campgrounds were full so we ended up sleeping in the car at a rest stop somewhere east of Susanville on our way to Yosemite. Moral to the story, let your injuries heal! | ||

| Late season snow dumped in March according to the ranger station. This resulted in 30 foot snow drifts and bulldozers in the parking area, in June! It appeared as if the entire parking lot was not cleared. We ascended the snowfield straight up until we found the Lassen Peak Trail on the ridge. I hiked the switchbacks until the snow looked too inviting, so I cut right and straight up the mountain. There was so much snow that I only touch scree once and actually had to kick steps in my hiking shoes. I crossed the summit snowfield running... (big mistake) and then tooked minutes to catch my breath. I did not see the trail to the summit pinnacle to the left so I ascended the rocks to the right, scrambling up the south west side of the summit. Descending was a blast with my poles as I when straight down the snow until I linked up with the trail 2/3 down. | ||

| Its been a LONG time since I did this hike, but I need to keep track of everything for my profile I guess. I climbed the standard South Face and SE Ridge trail, which is a easy walk up. I was there for four days as part of a class to satisy my last couple of credits for the University of Nevada, Reno before graduating. It was well worth it, and I still can't believe I was given college credits for hiking around such a beautiful park. We also climbed the Cinder Cone located just Southwest of Lassen and hiked around some of the lava caves in the park. The only thing that I might have changed was not taking my girlfriend, at that time, or at least one that could enjoy the outdoors versus complaining about it! Whatever! | ||
