| requiem | Mosquitoes and marmot sex  Date Climbed: Jun 9, 2007 | |
| hiked in from the north side of Fallen Leaf Lake, swatting mosquitoes just past Floating Island Lake where we turned and beelined for the summit, or where we thought it was. vexed a bit by the brush, we ascended the summit to find randy marmots and (ground squirrels?) bold enough to sit on your boot and take food from your hand. | |

| Twice in 3 days, during a family vacation at Stanford Sierra Camp: On Monday Sept 17, alone on a beautiful summer day, 3.5 hours roudtrip via the Cathedral Lake trail. Then on Thursday May 20th, with René Renteria, after a snowstorm that lingered into the day. We went up the Cathedral Lakes trail and went down the Glen Alpine / PCT trail, for a 5 hour roundtrip. | |

| Climbed Tallac as a loop hike from Fallen Leaf Lake. Amazingly I did not see a single other hiker the entire day. Went up via Glen Alpine and down via Cathedral Lake. | |

| Great day for a climb. It was very clear and the views seemed endless. The summit area was a happening place with a lot of people and squirrels. | |

| A great trail with beautiful views on the way up, and amazing views from the summit. Stayed pretty hot for the whole hike though, good thing we had plenty of water. Lots of people on the summit when we arrived around 1pm. I would recommend an earlier start for a summer hike to avoid the crowds and heat. | |

| Hiked from the Glen Alpine Trailhead. Camped at Gilmore Lake and hiked to the summit the next morning. Beautiful view, little hazy and windy with lots of little critters running around. | |

| A few notes: (1) LOTS of exposed areas; wear good sun protection; (2) despite elevation, it was pretty darn warm; (3) was expecting more scree-type conditions; just lots and lots of rocks in every size. But a great day had by all. | |

| I've been up Tallac twice, once trying to find the SE Chutes (and climbing up a southern ridge instead) and once via the SE chutes. This mountain has some amazing views of Tahoe and Desolation Wilderness. | |

| Climbed Tallac at the tail end of a solo 20+ mile Jacks->Dicks->Tallac talus traverse from Glen Alpine. It was a gorgeous day in every respect. There was an unabashedly curious marmot on the summit that kept me company. | |
