| Anyone know if there is anything technical on Humboldt? Since it was dark I couldn't tell but it looked like there might be something on the cliffs below the ridge. | ||

| Climbed in the moonlight with my girlfriend, had the whole peak to ourselves! We got a little off route in the darkness but once we got off the ridge we didn't even need the headlamps. Awesome moonlight reflection off South Colony Lakes! | ||

| A great climb with a great friend (altitude14er), see trip report "East Ridge, Scattered Snow Showers" by altitude 14er. Quite the "warm up" climb after a winter of ice climbing. | ||

| I posted a trip report about this epic day out. Me and fellow summit-poster "asphazell" found this to be a butt kicking work out, given a "detour" and fresh snow! Beautiful area of the state. | ||

| The East Ridge was a long tedious hike in ways, but glorious views paid off in the end. Windy up top, but one of the sunniest days I've had in the mtns. | ||

| ClearSkiesAhead | Windy Day Indeed ![]() Date Climbed: Apr 22, 2006 | |
| Well, I was one of those two people COTrekker02 ran into on the east ridge. It was indeed a very windy day. We climbed the East Ridge via the Rainbow Trail and descended in more or less the same area. Beautiful area. | ||

| COTrekker02 | Windy, Lonely Day ![]() Date Climbed: Apr 22, 2006 | |
| Probably the longest day bagging a 14er yet... Parked and camped at Nat'l Forest boundary and left at 7am. Slogged through snow to lower South Colony Lakes and then gained the W. ridge and summited with 40-50 mph winds. Descended via East ridge where we saw 2 people (the only 2 we saw all day), slogged down the south face back to the road. A very long day, but nice solitude with grand views! | ||

| I started out hiking on the trail with quite a number of people actually with more arriving every couple hours. However, due to the smoke (Hyman fire) literally, everyone turned around and went back down. I could watch people start out and linger, then turn around. I was the only one who summitted this day out of perhaps 20+ people. I've never seen this many people at the Colony lakes or had a 14er this difficult to accomplish (Capitol is a VERY close 2nd due to other reasons). | ||

| We climbed this after an 11-hour circumnavigation of the area. This included the Crestones, and an attempt on Kit Carson that was thwarted by soft loose snow. | ||

| Climbed on a very windy fall day, which turned from socked-in to lavishly sunny in the course of about an hour just after midday. A long slog with snow on the ground, but I had the sumit to myself! My 24th 14er. | ||

| What a pleasant hike! I decided agains Crestone Peak and/or Needle in the morning because I was just too worn out from my Little Bear - Blanca mini-epic two days before. I watched a ridiculously beautiful sunrise, had a leisurely breakfast, and loafed on up to the summit of Humboldt. It was hard to leave - it's just so beautiful there. | ||

| Gave up on the 4WD road and hiked up the whole thing instead. Camped near South Colony Lakes. There were plenty of people, since it was 4th of July weekend, but it never really felt like it was too crowded. Summitted the next morning. Spectacular views on this route, highly recommended! | ||
