| Started at 4am with my sister. Stayed with her the whole time until we reach above treeline. This is a great scenery route. Was going to climb Sunshine too, but I didn't have much time. Total trip is 10 hr... Sister didn't make it to the summit... I should have take off on my own earlier. | |

| Jathan Cantu and Todd Schauer reached the summit of Redcloud Peak at 11:00am, our first fourteener!! The weather was overcast with intermittent sun most of the day, cooperating enough for us to reach Sunshine Peak around noon--our second fourteener. Soon light rain and tiny hail arrived, which came and went, as we downclimbed through the talus field via South Fork Valley. The sun and moisture made for a beautiful rainbow across the head of the valley looking down from Sunshine Peak. Another interesting scene was seeing the South Fork stream seemingly come out of nowhere from the side of a steep talus slope. You would think we were on another planet surrounded by the jagged cliffs and red peaks. Next stop...Handies Peak! | |

| This was the final summit of my Sundog-Sunshine-Redcloud loop. It took my about four hours to get to Redcloud via Sundog and Sunshine. I descended via the standard route. | |

| Finished Handies and felt I had to do some more so I went for Redcloud and barely made it in time, very windy at the top and visibility was dropping so Sunshine was not an option, fun easy hike though! | |

| Carried an sixty pound pack to the summit of Redcloud training for Rainier. Beautiful summit until Alpine Master told me he put a 5lb rock in my pack at the trailhead. Just to spite him I continued to carry it over the Sunshine Peak and back to the trailhead. A nice trip! | |

| After hiking the trail thru a modest herd of cattle (mooove cow!!!) grazing near the trailhead, which was strange to say the least, I followed the excellent trail up to the NE Ridge under beautiful blue skies. I continued over to Sunshine and returned from the saddle between the two. | |
