| Easy climb over from Belford - but a long pull on the way out. Great camp at Vicksburg the night before we climbed. Not so many people back then. A big dog - from whereabouts unknown, came to visit our campfire. Really fine memories of these Sawatch peaks. | ||

| This was my first climb of Belford & Oxford. I came down Belford Gulch with someone I met on the trail rather than go back over Belford. There was a trail which faded out. We then got to bushwack back along the creek to the bridge on the Missouri Gulch trail. I wouldn't recommend this return unless it was to escape some lightning. | ||

| Bagged after a long morning trying to get motivated while sitting in our tent after camping near the summit of Belford. The winds were herendous. 60-70mph continuous wind and freezing temps. Had to stop and rub our noses to avoid frostbite. Went with Brian Smith from the Mountain Madness 2007 Everest Summit Team. Sprained my ankle on the way down. Never let your partner use your trekking poles for tent anchors! I could have used them on the way down but the locks were lost in the snow or the wind. Other than that, GOOD TYMES! | ||

| Traversed over from Belford and back on a windy, cloudless day. The hike back up to Belford is steep and demanding, like many others have mentioned. It worked me pretty good too. Another great day in the Sawatch. | ||

| BeginnerClimber | Did the Bel/Ox duo ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 27, 2007 | |
| Climbed both Bel and Ox today under a cloudless sky but where the weather was quite breezy. Crossed several small snow fields but had the poles to help out. Only met 2 other folks the entire day! The summit ridge over to Oxford was just as advertised. Loved the steep part then the gradual part. I recommend doing this, but the standard Belford trail is very tough on the knees! If you have the energy, head up Elkhead Pass, as that looks like Class 1 all the way. | ||

| After summiting Belford, headed down the ridge and over to Oxford, arriving 50 minutes later at the summit. Enjoyed 20 minutes on top of Oxford because the weather was so great, and then made the slog back up to Belford. That ridge back to Belford was- as one of the other hikers on the summit put it- a little piece of evil! My legs were not happy campers after the steep slog up to Belford's summit. | ||

| Third summit of the day after Missouri and Belford. About 1/4 mile before resummiting Belford a storm rolled in and got pelted with freezing rain and 40mph winds. Most unpleasant... fortunatly it didn't last too long. | ||
