West Ridge Belford Traverse Date Climbed: Sep 29, 2009
Completed this after climbing Missouri. The Missouri/Oxford/Belford loop was very difficult and a long day. 14+ miles and over 7,000 ft. elevation gain. Need to have a full day of good weather to safely complete this trip.
Missouri Gulch Belford/Oxford Date Climbed: Aug 29, 2009
We really enjoyed this summit, kicking back and eating lunch while talking to other hikers and snapping photos. An early start this day allowed us ample time to relax and take in the Sawatch views. I confess I did NOT so much enjoy the re-ascent of Belford, but it was tolerable. Partner: Deb.
Wife, dog and I climbed the duo from Missouri Gulch. Great day except for the pricks that had the dog off leash that started a fight with my dog, but oh well, what do you expect!? Rained on us on the way out...
Had three days off from work at Philmont so we went up to Colorado for some 14ers. We did Belford and Oxford together. We started at 11am and finished at 5:30pm. Great day with amazing weather conditions...a little windy but not bad
Windy and cold on summit Date Climbed: Jun 13, 2009
Lots of fun glisades between summit and saddle both ways. Did Belford then the Ox via Missouri Gulch. Made camp at the cabin Friday night. I'll be back a 3rd time to get big MO. . .
Oxford via Belford & MO Gulch Date Climbed: Aug 5, 2008
First duo nearly whooped me! Great climbing partners kept me going. Grateful for an early start which allowed us to see the BIG thunderstorm in the rearview mirror as we drove east out of Clear Creek Canyon. #8 and #9!
My wife and I hiked Mt. Oxford via Mt. Belford from the Missouri Gulch trail head for our 4th and 5th 14ers and first double. We got caught by grapple snow on the return to Belford and then rain as we descended via Elkhead Pass.
