| This was a ski/climb trip. Climbed up to the shoulder to the west of round top, skirted towards the backside of the mountain, and climbed up to the summit. Easy climbing, great conditions in winter, and way fun! | ||

| Hiked the trail? most of the way with Dean. Still lots of snow covering the trail. The scramble to the top was a little challenging. | ||

| Sick with nerves and second guessing an attempt on Crescent Moon Couloir, I still wasn't 100% decided on whether to do the thing while standing at the base of it. After everyone's tales and recommendations making the exit sound horrifying (in MY mind) and not so tasty for a soloist, I half made up my mind to go West Ridge. Somehow, without really thinking any further, I donned crampons and began stomping up the couloir.....37 minutes later I was up the exit and wondering where all this spicey, dicey exit shit was supposed to be. ? Steep, yes, but nothing that made me say "Yikes!" Scrambled to summit; hardest part of the trip was down-climbing that crap in boots but it was fun. Loved every minute of it except following those stupid blue markers in the woods and getting lost on the way back too.......WAAAY to hot to be goofing around extra miles out there. Oh yeah, hit up The Sisters too. :) | ||

| My first trip on backcountry skis, from Carsons pass to just below the rocky summit, then a scramble to the top, which felt a lot more than a scramble to me at the time. Trip was with Doug Robinson | ||

| Brought a rope but never felt the need to use it. It did get a little steep and rocky at the top though. Nice class 3 at the summit. Loved every bit of it! Boot skied on the descent. | ||

| I totally recommend Round Top in the snow. It is a great mountain to play on, and place to practice snow travel and polish your rescue skills. Last spring some friends and I snow shoed up to the summit, and on our way down I just was overwhelmed by the urge to sit and slide down the mountain...without any way to self-arrest I should add (not too smart). There was this beautiful line that had a really long run out free of rocks or trees, and I decided to just take off my snow shoes and go. I remember sliding down -fast-, and suddenly I thought, "I am going really fast!" The next thing I knew all of this snow comes over me like a wave, and then I was at the bottom and able to get control. As I sat there laughing uncontrollably, covered head to toe in snow, my friend ran over to me laughing and pointing back at my direction of travel. I turned around and looked, and saw where I began sliding down, then there was about 30 feet of nothing, and then you could see where I made contact with the snow again (hence the snow wave). This was definitely not one of my finer moments, and I really do know better...but there is something about tapping into that inner five-year old, being stupid and having fun...and this mountain always taps into that child. | ||

| I climbed Round Top many times and it was always great. Awesome views from the top on a clear day. The last bit up from Round Top Lake looks a little bit intimidating but it's a really fun rock scramble. I'd like to go back though and do it when there is a lot of snow on top (crampons, ice axe). What a great mountain! | ||

| I cannot count how many times I have sat on the summit of Round Top. No matter the time of year, time of day, or type of travel (scrambling, hiking skiing, running), I have enjoyed every moment. I even had one friend accuse me of building mini-Round Tops in my back yard. | ||

| Quite a climb. Ice axe and crampons. The last section is pretty steep. Coming down was incredible. It looks like you'll ski right into Lake Winnemucca. I've also climbed the West Ridge. | ||
