| This trail seemed to be very overgrown, however we ran into the forrest service along the way who was clearing away all the overgrowth along the trail, and on the way down, you coudn't tell there was a problem with the overgrowth at all. The Cone Peak road that accesses the trailhead was very difficult to pass in my Nissan Altima, but it was done with only a few scratches on the paint.
The trail description in my book (101 Hikes in Northern California, Heid, Wilderness Press) was incorrect. It indicated that the trail was 3 miles round trip. The route was actually 4.72 miles round trip. Also they indicated that the elevation gain was 1400', and it was actually 1678'.
It was a great hike!!! I encourage all to do it, the views were incredible!!! |
