walter denzelRoute Climbed: Standard Ski Route,  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 28, 2007

i.e. from Eisjoch (the Schaufeljochbahn was closed due to strong winds) via Gaisskarferner (going down the piste), Pfaffenferner, Pfaffenjoch, and Sulzenauferner
Great tour with SP member Sebastian Hamm!
The final ascent to the top was difficult; there was not so much snow; the snow was hard; the part in the middle was actually steeper and more difficult than it was when I climbed it on April 01, 2006 (see entry below); this time we did need crampons.

charlesFrom the Sulzenauhut  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 23, 2006

Not a very pleasant route now, or at least not to be done in July! The morraine is dangerous because of stone fall. But the final section to the summit is nice scrambling.

Mathias ZehringRoute Climbed: normal route from Stubai ski resort Date Climbed: May 5th 1995  Sucess!

As it is usual in spring we took the cablecars to the Eisgrat and had a downhill on the ski run to the beginning of the ascent which brought us over the Pfaffenferner glacier to the Pfaffenjoch and then passing the summit on the north side to the Pfaffensattel. The final ascent was steep but nice to do with crampons. After climbing Wilder Pfaff in addition we skied down the Sulzenauferner (many crevasses!) to the Sulzenau hut where we stayed the night before climbing Wilder Freiger the next day.

I haven't seen a cloud in these days, only blue sky. Watching the first flowers after coming down from the heights is always amazing.

Rick BRoute Climbed: normal route via pfaffensattel Date Climbed: august 2001  Sucess!

From the Pfaffensattel to the summit, skipping the last section with the ropes because it was very crowded, did a scramble up the north side of the peak instead. When I was there, the summitcross was still on the summit, although it was lying on it's side (made a nice bench to sit on :). I understand that later this year it was entirely gone.. Maybe a storm or some joker tossed it into the deep?

On the way down, again trying to skip the crowded passage from snow into the last rock part... this turned out to be quite an operation :-)

Did the Wilder Pfaff (love those Austrain names!) on the way back, it's a quick walk up.

JoPoRoute Climbed: From the Wilder Pfaff and then down to Hildesheimer Hütte Date Climbed: 8.8.2001  Sucess!

Coming from the Müller Hütte, we climbed the Wilder Pfaff and continued to the Zuckerhütl. From there we proceeded to the Hildesheimer Hütte. Weather was very cloudy, we did not see anything, when we reached the summit. Fortunately - with respect to some of my companions - we did no see the precipice southface wall neither.

A very funny experience was the cross at the summit. A mighty, ~3 m cross which was lying on the bottom. Obviously it cracked during winter - though very solid - and was not erected yet.
