| Fish Creek was a day hike. One of my friends (6'-9" tall - size 15 shoe) wore cheap tennis shoes, his feet have never been the same since. Vivian creek backpacking trip. Was a blast, got hassled by the same ranger twice for having a permit for another area, playing dumb saved the trip. My friends brother wore earth shoes which he says made the uphill twice as steep! | ||

| First peak on a Nine Peaks dayhike with Glenn. I think there were more people on the summit than any other peak I've climbed, except maybe for Half Dome. | ||

| It was a nice hike, There was still a bit of snow and it was very windy at the top. It was cool to see Baldy and San Jacinto from the top. | ||

| The Mill Creek is another route not noted here. It is long hike. The trail starts at about 6,500 feet, so it is 5000 foot vertical gain. The Vivian Creek is much easier. | ||

| Took South Fork Trail and stayed the night at Dry Lake View. Touched the summit and hiked back around passed Dry Lake and out through Horse Meadows. Winter climb w/ off-trail ridge traverse. Views opened up once the summit ridge was gained. Amazing in the winter. | ||

| A great way to train for longer trips. Long trail, steep for first mile or so, then a moderate hike to the summit. Leave early. Way early. It gets way hot up there. | ||

| I did it for the 2 nd time. This time is tire; may be because I push too hard; I wanted to go up there earlier with my new hiking boot. BUT I STILL ENJOY IT. | ||

| It took me 12 hours to go up and down. But I didn't feel tire after that. I will go again, again. | ||

| Wow, this is a long route, yet if you are planning on camping at the peak it is worth the trek, there are several rock shelters at the top and the good view of your next climb, San Jacinto. | ||

| It was harder than I thought. Should have brought crampons because my snowshoes were worthless on the icy slopes. A jolt of realism hitting the naive mountaineer in my head. Good times. | ||

| Long and hot day. Hiked up via the Vivian Creek trail. Also did Bighorn Mountain, Dragons Head, Jepson, Dobbs, Charlton, and Little Charlton. Returned via Dollar Lake Saddle and the Falls Creek Trail. To save weight I dumped almost all my water shortly on the way up thinking that the nice blue "tarn" on the topo would be a good place for water. May as well have been death valley. Never got more water until late in the day on the way down the Falls Creek trail. I must be part desert tortoise though because I've never had a problem with dehydration. | ||

| I've summited via Vivian Creek 3 times to-date. 1st done as a 2-day backpack in May 2001, then as a dayhike in July 2002, then finally as a backpack up to sleep on the summit in October 2003. One of my favorite SoCal trails! | ||
