| Despite a very rainy summer in the ADK's,the weather for this trek was super!Haystack was mighty and valiant, but along this trek on this day I felt to like Basin Mt alot better. No doubt about it,it was nice, but I prefer to look at Haystack, rather than look from it.....Jim w | ||

| Great day, Mt. Marcy, Haystack, Saddleback and Basin from the Garden's parking lot. Stayed on the mountain and did the last 3 miles the next day. | ||

| Climbed with Basin and Saddleback via the Range Trail from the Garden. A long and difficult approach. The views from the top were as good as it gets. After spending about half an hour on the summit we continued along the range to avoid a rapidly approaching storm. | ||

| Yup, this baby is deep into the Dack's. Hiked from the Garden where the was only traces of snow. Camped near John's Brook Lodge and summited folowing day. Great hike and astounding summit. Certainly one of my personal fav's in the northeast. There was 6-8 inches of snow on the summit and we broke trail to the top, AWESOME! | ||

| What a great peak! Hiked with Paul and it was another wonderful weekend in the Adirondacks. Did Haystack along with Basin and Saddleback. It was the first time I had good, clear views off an Adirondack Peak. Spectacular! 12/46 | ||

| Mt. Haystack is a beast that wants to devour you. Drain you. Waste you. This mountain sapped so much energy from me. Took a LONG time to summit and LONG time back. Makes me tired and exhausted now just thinking about it. | ||

| Climbed with my brother Bob in rain and wind. So windy at times we crawled. There were very limited views as we were in clouds and bad weather. Occasionally clouds would clear and you would see the clouds swirl around the "basin" between Basin and Haystack | ||

| Last peak for me in a very long day - the 1200ft rise to Marcy just looked too tiring after 13 hours of hiking. Haystack's open, windy summit was a good one to finish on; wish my camera had captured the weird green tinge of the rocks. | ||

| Great day for a winter ascent with Mike F. on his 46th! Deep snow, cloud cover, low temps, and high winds made for a great adventure. This was my second ascent of this peak - my first was in 1993 and Haystack was my first ascent of any high peak in the ADK. Beautiful mountain. | ||

| Snowy fall day in october. We climbed from opalescent brook up to skylight and over marcy to Haystack then stayed at slant rock leanto in the valley. There was a lot of ice and snow making the going somewhat treacherous in spots. A great peak though with precipitous drops on all sides. Highly recommended. | ||
