Date Climbed: Jul 22, 2009

Hiked from Lake Colden, there was one tricky spot, but overall a pretty easy hike.

Date Climbed: Feb 21, 2009

Climbed from Four Corners. Broke trail to the summit for sunshine and great views of Marcy and Skylight.

TahawusGray Peak  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 7, 2006

Climbed with Skylight via the Uphill Brook Trail from Tahawus. The path to the top was pretty easy going and the summit provided excellent views of Marcy, Skylight, Redfield and the other peaks in the surrounding area. Lake of the Clouds was a nice treat as well.

Florida FrankScramble from Marcy  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 12, 1979

Scrambled over from near treeline on Marcy above Lake Tear. I recall the spruce thicket being difficult but not impossible.

The OgreGray (between Marcy and Skylight) March 2006

Van Ho trail from the ADK Loj. Marcy, bushwhacked to Gray and down, back up to Four Corners and Skylight. Out via Lake Arnold. Solo. Bushwhack down Gray very hard; not on herd path. 7-8 feet (2 meters) snow on Gray that was melting in the midday sun. Horrible spruce traps; I needed 2 hours to go 1/2 mile downhill on Gray. (If you don't know what a "spruce trap" is, send a pm and I'll explain. I'm sure many of you do know, and many of you don't, or at least don't know the slang term "spruce trap.")

chilkootLast but not least  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 26, 2004

Climbing up Gray Peak ended my quest to climb the ADK 46 and also the Northeastern 111's (115). Hiked with a great bunch of guys and had bad weather set in, preventing us from cracking open our bottle of champagne until we made a brief stop at Marcy Dam for just that purpose.

pmlupiRoute Climbed: Bush whack from Tear Lake Date Climbed: October 13, 1996  Sucess!

Spent two cold days bagging the High Peaks. Hit Algonquain, Coldon and Gray, spent a brutally cold night in a lean-to then hit Skylight, Marcy and Phelps. We were past peak for the foliage thus making this a cold overcast and gloomy adventure.

climber46Route Climbed: Herd path from Lake of the Clouds Date Climbed: Sept 10, 2000  Sucess!

This hike (7.5 miles, 3000 feet in under 4 hours) convinced me that I could climb all 46 Adirondack High Peaks. After reaching Marcy, I climbed nearby Skylight, and Gray.

bushwhack from Lake Tear- fresh unbroken snow in winter. In summer herdpath easy to follow

I also bushwacked the ridge over to marcy, it was kind of tight, and no place for a full pack. I lost my new eyeglasses when my pack ripped open somwhere up there.

ADKhiker46Route Climbed: Bushwack down SE face of Marcy Date Climbed: 10-25-03  Sucess!

This peak is CLEARLY visible from Marcy; we went down marcy straight for it. Tight in places but all in all no problem. I would recommend this way as opposed to going down marcy to Lake tear and then up. That would be WAY harder and impractical.
