| 96avs01 | Great training trip ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 20, 2009 | |
| Needed some time at elevation before Rainier so I spent a couple of nights camping near Sonora Pass and decided for a quick 1/2 dayhike up Stanislaus with a 40 lb. pack. Still a lot of snow to traverse, but the summit cap was clear and had some very nice class 3 scrambling. | ||

| Party boy struggled to the summit, toxic and out of breath. Felt much better next day and climbed Mt. Wood above June Lakes. A much bigger climb. | ||

| thebeave7 | SE Chute combined with Sonora Pk ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 26, 2008 | |
| Started from the St Mary's Pass TH and booked it to the summit in around 1:20. The trail from the pass to the base of the peak is an easy run, then the final climb is loose. Climbed some class 3 loose rock on the SE face, then descended a scree chute down the ridge directly back to the trail. Not great climbing, but a nice enjoyable day when combined with Sonora Pk. Haze from the fires still hangs in the valleys and air, limiting the view toward Yosemite. Several large snow patches on the trail, flowers aren't out yet. Register needs a pen(just a peanut butter jar). | ||

| A leisurely paced effort with my dad - spent about 2.5 hours reaching the top, then enjoyed the views of Lyell, Ritter and Banner, and the warm and nearly windless conditions for about 45 minutes. Just enough spice at the top to keep things interesting for this low-end peakbagger. | ||

| My buddy Brad and I climbed Stanislaus Peak as part of a multi-summit warmup for the Palisades. We got a late start (~6:30), but we still able to catch the sun setting from the summit. Nice flowers and streams along the way. | ||

| Last mountain hike and peak of the year in 2002. A fine scramble to the top and a nice big summit area. Chill was in the air - winter was just around the corner. | ||

| Walked across the ridge from Sonora topping every bump along the way. Scrambled up the south side and returned on the west side of the Sonora-Stanislaus ridge. There is a cool granite outcropping/cliff near the base of Stanislaus peak. I was the first one to sign the register in 2003. | ||

| Headed up the SW side, with some fun class 3 (entirely optional) near the summit, and descended the SE side--not loose enough to plunge step down, but just loose enough to be annoying. Ritter/Banner were visible in the distance. Came back in Oct 2004 to pad my SPS stats for the year (this was something like SPS peak #107 this year, not counting repeats), and as part of the warm-up for a more ambitious outing out of the Meysan Lake TH the next day. | ||

| What a great way to spend the afternoon! My step-father & I set out from the TH, undecided on doing Sonora or Stanislaus. Once we gained St. Mary's Pass and the first views of the peak, our decision was made - Sonora's too short to bother with by itself (tho it sure looked like it'd be a nice longer hike to do both Sonora & Stanislaus)!), and Stanislaus is by far more peak-like.

| A nice half-day hike combined with Sonora Peak. Surprisingly, still a number of snow patches around, some even south facing. The trail from St. Marys Pass to the Sierra Crest just south of the summit is spectacular. It contours nicely (very gradual ups and downs) high on the east side of the drainage for the Clark Fork. The views are great and no trees to block your line of sight. Plus, there are springs that seem to run year-round crossing the trail, providing reliable water and incredible wildflower displays. Trip Report. | ||

| First person to sign summit log in 1999. The snow was very sun cupped and soft on the approach and trip back. The water from the many springs sure tasted good! The peak was clear of snow. Moved around to make the final part of the climb on the west side. A fun scramble. 2004, did it in conjuction with Sonora Peak | ||
