| This was my second ascent of this wonderful peak. Picture book alpine meadows, steep but climbable grassy slopes, and a large herd of bighorn sheep that literally thundered past us made this an even more unforgetable day than the day prior on Challenger and Kit Carson. Avoid the east side, but climb up the summit cap from the relatively easy ridge from the south. The summit register was empty- no matter. Do this peak before it is "discovered". It is fortunate that it is not a 14er because if it was it would be overused. The view of the Sangres from the top is what mountains are made of. Obviously, I love this peak. |
