| missymtngirl | First 11,000 foot peak!...yeah...yeah....yeah | |
| After our road trip we were on a high (or at least I was), and we decided to up the ante by climbing our first 11,000 ft peak. We were greeted by the usual suspects...those cute, furry, somewhat annoying marmots. | ||

| KVHiker | Alta Watchtower Loop ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 5, 2008 | |
| Our trail led us up to through Panther Pass and then around Tharps Rock to the summit. We continued down from Alta Peak to Pear Lake, Aster Lake, Emerald Lake, Heather Lake, the Watchtower, and then down to Wolverton which is where we parked. The trip was between 15-17 miles with an elevation gain between 4000 and 5000 feet, and it took us about 11 hours to complete the loop trip. Photos | ||

| Great way to start 2009 backpacking with my wife and her cousin and summit the next day. Trail sometimes hard to follow from Panther Gap to camp at Mehrteh Meadow with the snow- and very enjoyable trip. | ||

| aknatn | So close to the top, yet so far Date Climbed: May 21, 2009 | |
| This was our first attempt this season and the snow proved to stop us just short of the summit. Beautiful views this time of the year and well worth it, just be ready for some slushy snow and slippery spots on the way. We were approx. 528 feet from the summit but the snow was too thin and we opted to stop rather than risking falling through a weak spot. | ||

| selinunte01 | Alta Peak Trail and Lakes Trail ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 17, 2008 | |
| Great dayhike, starting from Wolverton via Panther Gap and Alta Peak Trail. Cloudy day with some thunderstorms in the High Sierra which - thank god - did not affect us. Descent from the summit via northeast ridge and down to Pear Lake with some class 2 / 3 scramble. We used the Lakes Trail from Pear Lake back to Wolverton. | ||

| I went with you on that trip in December. My roommate and I are heading back up toward Alta Peak Thanksgiving weekend for a few days. We're getting ready for a Rainier trip that we scheduled through RMI in March. Let me know if you are around that weekend... | ||

| Attempted with basic mountaineering course back in December 07. Avalanche conditions were iffy, so we ended up summiting the peaklet right next to it. Still had some great views. | ||

| Bonesaw | Got Engaged On Alta Peak ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 11, 2007 | |
| Told Emy that we were just going out for a day hike to Alta Peak. By the time we topped out, all that she could think about was food. I knealed down and stuck my hand in my pack. She thought I was getting our lunch, but instead my hand emerged from the pack with an engagement ring. She was totally surprised, but quickly said YES! | ||
