| Nice peak! One of the highest on the western side of Sequoia NP. Did this hike as a day hike. The trail, from Wolverton to the summit, is about 8 miles one way. Don't remember how long it took me to do the route, but do remember the weather conditions distinctly! Very heavy thunderstorms moved in as I neared the upper slopes of the peak. I debated to turn back, however, I was so close, so I kept going. Made the summit in nearly zero visability! Bad part about it is that I decided to go ultralight weight for the hike, and only took a plastic rain poncho instead of the Gore-Tex! A very memorable experience, to say the least. Never saw the summit register that is supposed to be on top.......................Oh well, guess that's a reason to go back and do it again someday! |
