| Hiked up with Teri. Saw some bighorn sheep along the way. The summit and its cooling breeze offered the only protection from the terrifying mosquitos in three days! We descended via Glacier Lake then back up over Glacier Pass. | |

| Climbed Eagle Cap during a 3-day backpacking trip. Hiked in to Frazier Lake via W Fork Wallowa River on day 1, then climbed Eagle Cap from Glacier Pass during day 2 and enjoyed an awesome sunset from Moccasin Lake that night. Hiked back out through the Lakes Basin on day 3. Still a fair amount of snow to contend with, but it was in good shape for kicking steps. Here’s a trip-report and some photos. | |

| We had the place to ourselves for 3 days. We packed in through a beautiful valley, saw lots of elk and quite a bit of snow. The Eagle Cap summit was almost secondary to the gorgeous Wallowa backcountry. | |

| Climbed from Mirror Lake via Horton Pass. Great hike, love the trail the whole way up. No summit register, not sure where it went. A great place to escape the awful mesquitos of the lake basin area. | |

| Climbed with Mr clam. We parted ways beneath the east face when he decided to give the east ridge a try. Not being one for free soloing, I found a scramble route up a chute connecting to the south ridge. I was quite baffled to watch from the summit his completion of that treacherous route. | |

| I tried to follow the East Ridge but was turned around near the top when the climbing got a bit out of my solo comfort range. As I descended I spotted a a tasty looking rib going up the east face and decided to traverse over and give it a shot. It turned out to be some of the most intense (but fun) free soloing I have done. Once at the top I continued on along the Dragon Spine Ridge to Glacier Peak. A good day. | |

| Drove to Wallowa lake trailhead on the 2nd of July. We backpacked up the West fork of the Wallowa river to Six Mile Meadow forded two streams and humped it up to Horseshoe lake. The next day we Backpacked up to Mirror lake dropped our packs and hiked uphill until the trail disappeared under snow. we walked cross country below Horton pass and traversed under a slightly corniced west ridge and met the trail again just below the summit, walked up the sweeping switchbacks and were rewarded with arguably the best view in the Wallowas. Sweeet! | |

| I was on a Boy Scout trip from La Grande when we made a side trip up Eagle Cap. It was the first mountain that I ever climbed and I wanted more. While we sat on the summit I gazed at the surrounding peak and planed a many trip to follow. Thank You Eagle Cap! | |

| Boy Scouts Jesse Hale, Doug Aveline, Nathan Connaway and Mike Haller, suffering the presence of Scoutmasters Dennis Hale and Don Haller, walked up Eagle Cap on a very weird day, with clouds of smoke from fires to the east greatly altering visibility from hour to hour. Scattered low clouds added to the confusion. Wimpy Scoutmaster (me) aborted the rest of the loop planned to Glacier, Glacier Lake, and back to Lake Basin. By the time we scurried back to Mirror Lake, thunder storm cells began passing by on either side of us, unseen in the other confusion. Bright sunshine burst out regularly too. Mid-August 1993 | |

| This was my first 50+ plus mile backpack trip with my dad and a friend of the family. This was the summer of all the great fires in the area and from the summit the view was primarily obscured due to smoke. Fun hike and defiantly the highlight of the trip. hope to return soon, just haven't gotten around to it. | |

| From Mirror Lake (with W.). Arguably my all-time favorite in Oregon. Not only is the scenery breathtaking, but we only saw a handful of people the entire week we were at Mirror. Perfect wilderness, and a sunny day on the summit to enjoy it. | |

| Group ascended the ridge from Glacier Pass and traversed to Eagle Cap's SE ridge. Some scree, but easy going; boot trail from there up to the summit. Great weather and awesome views off the summit. Returned by the same route and headed over to nearby Glacier Peak. | |

| Sunny and warm. Came in the gorgeous East Lostine Valley and camped at Upper Lake. But it was so early in the day when we got to the lake, that the little dog and I went on up to the top. You really get a feel for the Wallowa geography up here. Everyone was over at Mirror so we had Upper all to ourselves with the grand view down the Lostine. | |
