dirthWhole place to ourselves  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Nov 1, 2009

Curious that we were the only car at the trailhead and saw only 1 other person over a 13 mile loop. Beautiful late fall day. A little windy, but great views from the top.

Climbed with Galehead via the Garfield Trail from Gale River Road. Beautiful trail leading up to Garfield's rocky and exposed summit. Great views of the Franconias, Twins and of the greater Pemigewasset Wilderness.

Sam PageAborted one-day Pemi-Loop  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 5, 2008

Managed 29 miles and 6100 vertical feet on a day with wet and muddy trails, intermittent rain, and three shoe-soaking, nerve-rattling stream crossings on the Franconia Brook Trail. Took 15+ hours.

Lips74Icy in May  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 29, 2008

Moderate snowpack and the regular freezing and thawing made the steep ascent fun but exciting. Enjoyed a chance to use the crampons in late May.

TLPMt. Garfield trail  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 13, 2008

There was still some snow on the higher elevations. It was not a nice well packed down snow either, making things interesting. This was my 20th NH 4000er.

I really don't remember Garfield specifically, but since it's along the Appalachian Trail I must've hiked up it.

Garfield is an amazing summit to me ~ being able to look over and see Lafayette, Lincoln and Little Haystack looming in the distance. I had a clear day with spectacular views on the 4th day of our 5 day adventure. We stopped for over an hour on Garfield and had lunch. As promised, I said hello to my friends "Uncle John" whose ashes had been scattered there years ago.
