NCclimberRoute Climbed: Fourth Class east route  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Mar 21, 2009

A much easier climb to the notch from the east, but there is no trail to the base. The rattlesnakes love the morning sun on this side, watch out. It made for a long, hot day car to car from 6am to 4pm. Came back down on the west side, took the more established Peralta Trail. Made it back to Scottsdale just in time for a wedding!

sistinasWest Chimney via the Peralta Trail  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 2, 2009

Super fun! It was a beautiful day - tank top weather in the dead of "winter". Bring headlamps if you're planning on doing it in a day in the winter, and helmets because there's a fair bit of rock fall. The approach will take more out of you than the climb. Watch for cacti!

cdogwest gully  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Mar 9, 2007

climbed this for the 2nd time with my buddy Etan. Already almost 90 deg, and still winter! Good easy climb to a cool landmark. (oh yeah-the tobacco in the summit box is getting a bit old)

Classic desert peak, technically easy. Outstanding formation. With James Barnett

Ken DammenRoute Climbed: Route from Peralta Trail to Notch and up Notch Date Climbed: October 30,2004  Sucess!

Climbed with climbing partner Tim. The bushwack/rock hopping from the trail to the base of the climb was rough. The climb itself was fun, but very sketchy pro placements on the two technical pitches in the beginning of the climb to the large chockstone. Someone placed an American Flag on the summit which was a nice touch. Fun rappels down.

Fun climb! Not very technical, but the rock's terrible. Watch your pro!

Fun in Arizona, especially that step back into the chimney on the descent.

asmrzRoute Climbed: 4th Class Regular Route Date Climbed: February 1980  Sucess!

John Orange and I hiked to the Needle from Peralta Camp Trailhead and climbed it via a short, two or three pitch line in February 1980. I don't recall anymore on which site of the Needle the route is. This was my first trip to Arizona desert and I loved the cacti, the rugged terrain and the formations. Great winter weekend trip from LA.

MjollnirRoute Climbed: Notch on West Face Date Climbed: March 9, 2002  Sucess!

This is a fun climb. There is a register and a nice camping spot on the summit. We climbed it, camped on the summit, and rappelled down the next morning.
