Date Climbed: Aug 1, 2007
Did some community service on the top by disassembling rock castles that some scouts made. Fun hike other than that.

chobbsEpic Lightening  Sucess!

An epic storm rolled in from the southwest just as we summited, one of the best lightening shows I've seen. We set up camp just as the hail came, and when the storm was over the ground was covered in quarter-sized hail.

Hiked this with my Boy Scout Philmont crew from Troop 1100 in Burke, Virginia. Camped out near the summit of Mount Phillips and caught both a beautiful sunrise the next morning.

I remembered beinig really psyched to be on top of this peak. I'm not sure what route I took to get there, but I was on a 5 day trek called "Mountain Men" that included kids from different troops around the country. This was my first real introduction to backpacking (a little more out there than what we did back in Ohio) and I loved it. The great view from the top inspired me and the rest, as they say, is history.

Looks like I am the old timer here. I did this with Boy Scout Troop 131. We camped on the summit. Awesome day.

I did this with my Scout troop: Troop 444 of Sierra Vista, AZ. Phillips is probably the first real mountain I've climbed. We had typical Philmont weather: rainy and cloudy, but the scenery we could see was very nice.

TexasClimberDate Climbed: Summer - 1995  Sucess!

Back in my Boy Scout days, I recall tagging this summit at the Philmont Scout Ranch with my Troop. Its not the tallest mountain, but it did create some good memories!

txmountaineerRoute Climbed: Standard Date Climbed: July 7, 1996  Sucess!

This was the first "peak" that I ever climbed. The views from the just-above-tree-line-summit were absolutely breathtaking, and inspired me to continue climbing on higher and more difficult peaks!

Brett ARoute Climbed: From Red Hills camp Date Climbed: July 16, 2002  Sucess!

After the hike from Beubien to Red hills, in which we climbed Bonita Peak and Big Red, we set up camp and started up with day packs. It was cloudy and I had a bad cold that day but our whole trek made it. We could see Taos from the summit. On the descent we also bagged Comanche which has no views at all but it gave us a 4-peak day.
