The first time from the town of Kensfield, the second time from Mountain Home Inn. Very nice local hike. Missed the views from the top both times. Was enjoying my afternoon nap.
My second summit for the day (Sonoma Peak earlier). I got to the East Peak parking lot close to sunset. Wind was howling and visibility was about 200 feet. Tagged my 3rd CA Cohp.
Looked at the map and decided to see if there was somewhere to eat in Bolinas. It wasn't cheap but I had an absolutely delicious dinner at the Coast Cafe.
High above the low clouds Date Climbed: Sep 16, 2000
We took the Fern Creek Trail to summit Mount Tamalpais and the Old Railroad grade to descend. Continued in the Muir Woods. After low clouds in the morning there was a stunning clear view over the bay area and San Francisco during our summit break.
This was my last of three California county highpoints for the day. I would love to have had more time to hike the extensive trail system. The wind was really blowing and all the pictures of my wife show her hair in horizontal positions.
hiked several times, it's a good way to get some vertical gain within the bay area. favorite route is from stinson beach, through steep ravine trail, and you can cool off afterwards by going for a surf.
Hiked from the parking lot with my nephew, Spencer. Beautiful warm day. Summitted at 2:45 PM. The temperature here was 25 degrees warmer than it was on the top of Mt. Davidson in San Francisco 2 hours later.
