MauriceRavelWildstrubel via Flueseeli  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 9, 1991

In the afternoon of the 8th of September I went up to the Flueseeli, stayed over night at the self-catering refuge, left the next morning at 4:00 a.m., arrived at the Lenker Strubel at 8:00 a.m. and spent the entire day up on the Wildstrubel plateau. The weather was one of the finest I've ever had in the mountains, and so clear that you could distinguish meadows from forests in the Jura way in the distance! On a day like that, the view to the Pennine Alps, the Mont Blanc massif but also to the mountains of the Pays d'Enhaut plus the large plateau of the Glacier de la Plaine Morte right below is fascinating!

Date Climbed: Aug 12, 2006

Landed in Geneva from California. Drove to Lenz, slept in car and summited the next day. Found hike in lonely planet "Alps" book. 2000meter elevation gain, tiring yet rewarding hike, got altitude sick towards the top. Met two old swiss guys who overtook me 100 meters from the top. I was in bad shape when I arrived, they gave me chocolate to re-energize! Very memorable.

Again I went up the famous Gemmi way from Leukerbad and further on to the Lämmeren hut for a night sleep. On hard snow I reach the summit in full sunshine, (July 13, 1995).

Nice and easy glacier travel with some friends (2 rope parties) on a perfectly sunny day. Excellent view in all directions.

Hiked up to Fluseeli hut from Simmenfalle and camped above it for the first night. I found just one german woman staying in the hut wth her dog. The following morning the 3 of us hiked up to the top of Wildstrubel in glorious sunshine. It becomes a steep hike up scree for the laslt hour or so. There's a good view of the Glacier du Plein Mort. At the top we were bathed in a warm wind blowing from the south. On the summit we me a local woman who had hiked up directly from simmenfall, she said that it is often very cold and cloudy on top and indeed the guestbook in the fluseeli hut reflected this as the experience of many who attemted the mountain.

Mathias ZehringRoute Climbed: traverse from Lämmeren hut to Engstlingenalp Date Climbed: May 1st 1995  Sucess!

Goint there on a public holiday this is a _very_ popular tour. But conditions and weather were great. Doing this in spring with ski is easier than walking over steep glaciers in summer
