The wildflowers were positively OUT OF CONTROL on this hike. Completely amazing. The east slope was impressively steep. There are a few loose sections just below the sub-summit. Large groups should either wear helmets, practice very cautious/aware travel or both. I started a nice rock slide, but fortunately my partner and I were traveling safely and she was out of my fall line. The little causeway to the main summit was an exciting surprise for me. For people with out fear of heights, this little causeway might be *nothing*, but for me it was fun. I took it slow, steady and deliberate. The flowers...my gosh, the alpine wild flowers were amazing. Hiking partner: Deb.

All I wanted for my birthday were some San Juan 13ers and I got them! My 1st trip to the San Juans in winter was fantastic. The route was reasonably safe, but probably shouldn't be attempted in high avy risk times.

Steep grassy slopes. Had the mountain to myself.
