Foxy Long BottomsRoute Climbed: NE Ridge Date Climbed: 7/10/05  Sucess!

Fun climb. Beautiful hike in. Nice Glissade down.

ajdonnerRoute Climbed: North Ridge Date Climbed: July 31, 2004  Sucess!

This was my first alpine rock climb. I would describe it as short sections of fun climbing between easy and loose scrambling. I think I got the most fun lead-a short chimney before the big (BIG) ledge. My friends enjoyed listening to me curse my pack and the clink of my ice axe clink off the rock as I wriggled my way up.

ajdonnerRoute Climbed: Southeast Face Date Climbed: July 3, 2004  Sucess!

This was my second snow climb, the first being Banner Peak in the Sierra Nevadas (though I turned back a couple hundred feet shy of the summit on Banner). Easier than the first; but, no less enjoyable.

umbra altaRoute Climbed: Southeast Face Date Climbed: June 2003  Sucess!

Climbed on continous snow from Blue Lake, which was still mostly frozen. No snowshoes or crampons, just perfect kick snow. Go early enough to catch the steep tongue of snow that turns right and climbs to the summit. Great glissade all the way back down, just watch for slide potential.

Got Pawnee and Toll the same day, took Pawnee Pass to Pawnee, over to Toll and down the Blue Lakes drainage. Nice loop.

georgbetsyRoute Climbed: North Ridge Date Climbed: August 13  Sucess!

Climbed the North Ridge as described by ben as part of my challenge to cover the whole ridge from Audubon, Paiute, Toll, Pawnee, and Little Pawnee in a day. Was a great trip (see my tripreport for more information). I had planned to use the Northwest Face route, but sitting below the North Ridge I decided to give it a go. The climbing was easier than expected (did not even bring gear, but saw some old rusty bolts). It amounts to 3 moves that are 5.6, otherwise it is pretty simple. And even these moves are not very exposed, so that I always felt that I could stop myself in case of a fall. -- One chimney section provided a smaller problem since I could barely squeeze myself and my backpack up.

On the way down I also summited Toll's no-name neighboor to the south.

Climbed with Jim Lierman and Aaron Johnson. No one on the mountain but us. That's the rest of the world's loss; our gain. Nice, nice mountain!!!!

colintRoute Climbed: Toll Snowfield Date Climbed: Early-June 2004  Sucess!

The snowfield is a great early June climb, and a wonderful glissade back down. Easy traverse to Pawnee adds some views south.

Mount Toll has the best view of theLone Eagle Cirque of any mountain in the Brainard Lake area. It's debatable as to which mountain is the most beautiful in the Brainard Lake area but Toll very well could be the one. Great mountain and I highly recommend.

RyanSRoute Climbed: Northwest Face Date Climbed: July 18, 2004  Sucess!

After climbing Audubon and Paiute, we climbed the cairned Northwest Face route, a fine class-3 climb. This is the easiest way to combine a climb of Paiute with Toll.

miztflipRoute Climbed: North Ridge Date Climbed: July 23, 2003  Sucess!

My wife and I did the North Ridge as described by ben on the route page. What a mountain, this thing looks cool from almost any angle and the summit presented some of the best views I've had in a while. Didn't see a single person until we got back to Blue Lake and then the crowds set in.

We found the climbing to be easier than expected and never took out the rope or climbing shoes. As Brian stated watch out for the loose block at the top of the chimney with the pin in it.

Great climb and highly recommended for the budding alpine rock leader.

Beautiful weather, good rock, firm snow - basically heaven in a morning's climb.

An absolute beautiful day. It was windy at the lake and calm on the summit.

NelsonRoute Climbed: Standard, with variations thereof. Date Climbed: At least 10 times since 1980, from January to October  Sucess!

As Roach so nicely puts it, even without an Indain name its one of the best Indian Peaks. I've brought visiting friends and relatives to the top on beautiful summer days, and had great early season snow climbs in various gullies. Turned back on the North Face by an unusual all-day steady rain in July. Better that than lightning!

Aaron JohnsonRoute Climbed: Standard Date Climbed: June, July  Sucess!

I've climbed Toll twice, yet it is one of my favorite mountains! Ditto on the remark in the page's text: "What mountain is that!" are the words I uttered upon seeing it partially as it jutted up into a cloud. I knew that instant I was destined to climb Mt. Toll. Jim Lierman, Rosa Aguirre and me climbed the mountain preparing for Longs Peak three years ago. Four years ago, Vern Garner climbed it with Jim and I. Done in late June and early July, both trips offered great snow climbing. The first trip was done as a loop coming down Pawnee Pass. Fantastic! Toll is not the tall one in the area, but is definitely the coolest, and a fun hike to a dramatic summit that anyone can do. I'm on my way to climbing the other awesome summits in the area, but I will return to Toll, and it will always be a favorite because it's just plain COOL.
