Bob BurdEast Face / South Ridge  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 6, 2008

With Tom Becht, below. A moderate day, nice views from the summit, too much grazing allowed in what otherwise would be beautiful meadows along the way. Trip Report

bechttBlackrock TH day hike  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 7, 2008

Nice dayhike with Bob out of Blackrock, about 26 miles r/t. Climbed the East Face (which is really just a talus slope) and descended via the South Ridge. Took a slightly different route back.

hikineddvia Jordan Hot Springs  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 1, 2007

With a big Sierra Club group we took a detour through Jordan Hot Springs for lunch and browsing, to camp at Redrocks Meadows. From the Blackrock TH it was a 2500' drop to the Hot Springs, then 2500' back up to camp. Unfortunately the 2002 fire burned up all our shade leaving us overly exposed. Took the trail most of the way to the peak with views deserving of its former designation as a fire lookout. Took the regular trail, 1800' gain death march back to the cars after that.

Dayhike out of the Blackrock TH, just to tick this one off the SPS List. Casa Vieja Meadows were pretty. The rest was pretty forgettable.

Took a break from fishing and climbed this peak with my brother Jeff. "Buzzed" by protective sage hen when we got too close to her nest on way up.

Fun trip! Most notable moment was seeing a deer being chased by a humongous coyote just feet away from us on our way up to the summit. The coyote got distracted by our group and the lucky deer managed to escape. What an incredible wilderness experience!

Trail pass to templeton cow camp, head west, leave the trail, summit up southern slope. Nice views.

Easy day trip from Tunnel Meadow. No chance of running into other parties in this part of the Sierra.

This was done the the WTC & SPS sections of the Sierra Club. We hiked nine miles in with full packs, made camp at Redrock Meadow and the continued on the seven mile round trip with 3000' of gain. Eleven started and nine of us made the summit. Great views!
